Anyone have kids?

My little man just started walking last week. although he walks like a drunk. I was telling my wife "I can't wait for him to start walking" and now He gets into EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING. The Christmas tree is now a giant toy. We can't even put any ornaments on the bottom of it. Man I love kids. I want one more to make it 3, but I may have slip my wife a mickey to do it.

Child gates are your friend, until the buggers learn to climb over them. Another thought is the kiddie corral, which keeps them in a safe place and out of trouble. You will also want latches for all the drawers and cabinets, because he will figure out they are full of toys before long.

I have two kids - Bella is 3 (8, 6 born) and Caleb is 14 months (10, 8 born). Here is a recent pic in the snow. Two kids are enough for us, we have official retired from reproducing!

I was 24 when we had our first and the missus was 28. I wanted kids young as I don't expect to reach 50!

That was our plan, I wanted two boys, and we had two boys. Close the Baby plant, we're done. Fate had other plans though... her oldest son (Of 3 from her previous marriage) wasn't able to take care of his two girls, ages 2 & 3, so now we have them in addition to our two boys 8 & 10. So much for planned parenthood, and so much for finally being able to sleep in on the weekends.

Good for you for taking them in though.

We have 2 and we are DONE! A boy 10 months and a girl 3 years. Kyleigh and Keaton. And my daughter is a effing handfull. She is impossible to reason with and she will not stop until all hell breaks loose. Kind of like a terminator.

Dude they still kick ass ! Best punk bands ever !

GBH
DEAD KENNEDYS
SEX PISTOLS
THE CLASH
TSOL

It's funny cause I listen to real mellow stuff now and the irony is my kids hate it. One day I'll break out my 10 crates of vinyl and blow them away. It will have to be one of those moments they goof on me.

They don't even know I was in bands in my youth. I have video of live performances of us opening for Tool and a few other bands that got big. They're gonna flip when they see pops with long hair rockin' out in front of a few thousand people. Ha! They should dig that when I'm old. Wait till they see the mohawk I had in Jr. High :cheesy:

I hope our kids have a cool revolutionary scene, I just hope they don't do anything stupid, but if memory serves, it goes hand in hand :)

Our kids absolutely will do stupid stuff. :Drogar-Smoke(DBG):Just like we did. Driving for some reason scares me the most. and My oldest is only 3. I don't wanna even get into my youth. girls, hooch, hooky, fights, etc. etc. as I long as I keep my baby girl off that stripper pole and my son out of the streets I will be happy. I am so turning into my dad it's not even funny.
(but my dad is the Sh!T)

I'm a part of Gen-X and now we are raising kids. Scary thought.

My boys are grown up bu being a grandma is almost like having them again. Nicest part is...they get cranky, just take them home. They are great to use in my films though..real hams!

did I fail to mention my son stuffed the toilet with books and we had to call a plumber? Plumber also found toy cars in their, and did I fail to mention my son continued to use the restroom even with said items in toilet?

did I also forget to mention he decided baby powder at the age of 2 was a mound of fun, all over his room!!! When we dismantled his crib, we found baby powder in the crevices of his bed frame.

He's 26 and still needs financial help because he changed his major, lost his job and is now looking for work to go back to school. He is the BEST kid in the world and truly has a good heart. I couldn't ask for a better son and all the mess we went through together.

Just keep your kid away from baby powder!

great post. I put my parents through most of that! And I am sure the cycle will repeat. At 26 though I was living on my own in NYC. and to this day my dad still says "I aint got no money boy" I ask him for $5.00 dollars all the time just to hear him say it. It cracks me up. And my grandmother, bless her heart will still give me a one dollar bill and tell me to get my self something eat, you are too skinny.

I have 2. a 3 year old daughter who is totally out of her mind and 7 month old son that is totally out of his mind. My house is a loud, toy infested, insane asylum. I love them, but it is not easy. Everything changed when they came along. EVERYTHING.

I don't know if this post is a joke, or just a frustrated father venting on the web.

I have not read all the responses, because I will give mine.

You are lucky. You HAVE your children. You are ABLE to see and hear them 24/7.

You know what I am doing right now? I am arranging to go pick up my daughters for Christmas because my psychopathic ex-wife took them half-way across the country.

I thought she was temporarily insane...turns out she was pretty insane, and because Texas courts is so favorable to women, well.. you know.

You have your children.

You can teach them to pick things up.

You can also kiss them goodnight.... everynight.

You can - if you a God fearing man - pray with them...everynight.

You can comfort them when they have a bad dream or think that there is a monster under the bed.

You can wake them up every morning...every morning. (if they don't wake you up first)

You can have them in the "big bed" with your wife and watch cartoons with them.

You can play with them... everyday.

You can see them laugh...see them cry.. everyday.

While you are in your editing suite... your children will be able to come in a crawl up on your lap and play with your mouse as you are trying to finish a project...and they will look at you in such a way that you pick them up... kiss them for remiding you for what is important, and you go watch a few more cartoons with them.... or go outside and toss a ball with them.... or go to the pool with them in the summer.

You have that luxury. You have that gift. Cherish it. Don't take it for granted, and remember that there are some of us fathers out here that would kill for the time that you have with your children.

I just want you to know that I am not saying that you are a bad father. I don't even know you. I just wanted you realize what you have.

Cherish it.. because you never know when it might be gone.

Pick up the toys. Kiss your kids, kiss your wife, and appreciate what you have.

In all seriousness, the one thing I've learned about being a parent is that you get back what you put in. There is nothing more sobering than seeing your own worst traits reflected right back at you.

Totally true. My oldest boy is a real smartass... I blame his Mother.
