Hi everyone,

Today I'm announcing the coming version of the P2 Genie software for Windows XP users. The Windows version has been developed with the collaboration of Anders Holck - who's the creator of the original P2 Genie for Mac OS X.

The Windows version will basically have the same features as the current Mac-version, but some minor differences can and propably will occur.

Anders will still be focusing on the work with the Mac-version and I'll continue work with the Windows-version, but we will try to keep in sync with regards to new features and versions. A website for both versions is in the making.

I'll be opening up for beta-testers later this week - and I'll keep everyone posted in this thread.

The price for the Windows app will be the same as for the Mac-version; €25 euros (~$33 USD).

Nice interface :)

Thanks, Anders :). I will - however - be looking into cleaning up the interface a bit once everything else is working. Right now I'm working some verification-routines to make sure all files have been copied succesfully. The "single folder" feature seems to be working like a charm btw. :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

Excellent.... I will test it for you as well... One great option would be the ability to dump to 2 different HDDs, say your internal and an external.

Will this work for the P2 store and a laptop slot?

Put me down for beta testing.

I'll have to borrow a P2 Store in order to test this - but if the P2 Store just map the individual cards as seperate drives then I don't see why it shouldn't work. It works from both my laptop slot and from CD/DVD if I copy the contents of a P2 Card to a CD or DVD.

That feature is already implemented. It's the "2nd destination" you see in the settings panel.

Please - don't sign up for beta testing in here... I'll post info on how to sign up for beta-testing as soon as the first beta is available. There will be a sign-up form on the website for that - and I'll provide the URL for it as soon as the beta is ready. I need to make final adjustments to the application and will have to make an installer for it too. Expect the beta to come out thursday or friday :)

Where are you located? I'll be happy to help you test this on my P2 Store if you're in SoCal. PM me if you are interested.

Can you add the ability to:

1) prename the directories to be written to
2) select the size of the directory (4 gig or 8 gig for writing to dvd's later)
with 8 gig p2 cards, it is a big process to archive to dvd's, trying to find the
4 GIG dividing point. That would make things lots better.
3) It's probably too much to ask for it to be able to convert files, on the fly, to
whatever codec you have installed (Cineform HD)
4) Built in video player?

Hi. there. Just a few notes from me:

I'm very proud that Tony has chosen to port the utility to Windows. I only know how to program for Mac OS X, so I could never have done this myself.
And Tony has progressed this version very far in a short amount of time.

Once the Win version is done both versions can be found at the same website. But they are two different applications, by to different developers.
What is important is that if you purchase one version you won't get the other in that purchase as well. And at the moment we don't offer crossgrades.

Thanks!

1) This is already a feature - it's the "projectname" field.
2) I think this would be quite a difficult task, but I'll look into it if it turns out it's a highly requested feature. Maybe in a version 2 :)
3) File-conversion is a major task and would require me to buy some third-party software to implement. A licensing scheme for something like this is very expensive. There's a reason why HD Log is $600 :)
4) I'm working on that, but it will propably not be implemented before version 2.

FilmStox: I'm in Denmark, but thanks for your kind offer!

Thanks for clearing that up, Anders :dankk2:

I'll make sure to put that information on the website too.
