Amazing price for HVX

Rush, when the camera comes out, are you saying whatever the lowest street price is at the time from an authorized dealer, you will beat? 5500/free shipping/1 free cleaning/ and no sales tax sounds like the best deal now even with a 500 nonrefundable deposit. Competition is great.

You betcha, competition made our country great! So after factoring in shipping, etc. I will beat any advetised authorized dealer when the cameras hit the streets, and after I investigate them personally (call and try and place an order). Just send me a link to rush@evsonline.com, and when the time comes, I will make sure to beat them.

I can't do anything about CA sales tax, but I can charge 3% tax instead of 8.25%. The cool thing about CA customers is they can drive down and pickup at the store, making sure that everything works straight out of the box

Holy cow Oz! I'll just take a pat on the back  I have always appreciated your business sir.

Okay, but Jes is gonna be disappointed:

If Jessica Alba was your sister and you could convince her to go out with me if I got you a deal on one an HVX, then I'd buy you one and stand in front of you with a grin waiting to see what you'd convince her to do for that...

At EVS no deposit is required. No card will be charged until we ship to the customer. :)

We are also hard at work on optional DVXuser packages, which will get you several accessories practically at cost, like Portabrace bags, shotgun mics, and Formatt filters. We also give a guarantee that we will meet and beat any advertised authorized dealer price for DVXusers, once shipping is factored in, and the final price calculated.

And that's why I'm on the EVS HVX pre-order list

If a company gets my $500 for several months to earn interest on and gets to keep that money for those that for whatever reason can't buy when the cam ships - I don' think that's a swell policy, even if you might save a few bucks.

The best price I've been given so far is from Birns & Sawyer, of course I've bought a lot from them and always work package deals.

As far as Jessica Abla goes, watch yourself, guys, she's going to star in my movie....she's just not aware of it yet...or the ones she's already starred in while I sleep ;)

If Jessica Alba was Oz's sister I would wonder why he has a picture like that of her.

Great that spec comm is doing this, but I think Ill choose EVS online since they will match any authorized price and will not require a 500 dollar deposit. My studio is ready to order 4 but a 2k nonrefundable deposit until Dec will not go over well with the bosses.

Thanks Marquee. :) We also have some more DVXuser surprises lined up, like enrolling in the "HVX Club" which entitles you to 50% off P2 card rentals on long term shoots, with free shipping to you and back. That is 35% greater discount than the standard DVXuser discount. That will help DVXusers who can afford the camera but not the P2 cards, and still want to make a movie on HD.

You can also send us a digital pic of you and your new HVX, and we will preserve it on our site on the HVX Club page. More Holiday specials and discount ideas will follow for December, like super low prices on certain creative filters (we're talking 50% off) when purchased within 30 days of the HVX. All the club perks will be up on here soon enough

I have been a customer of Specialized Communications for the past two years. I learned of Specialized Communications while working in the camera department on a HBO television series that shot in Washington DC on five DVX 100s. Specialized served as the main repair and service facility for our cameras on that show. They did such a wonderful job on that show that I continued to use them the following year when I worked on a second HBO series in Los Angeles that shot with the DVX 100As. What is amazing about Andrew Hoffman and the people at Specialized is that they are consistently able to repair and service cameras and get them back out to me in the field at lightening speed. On the type of jobs on which I work this type of service and support is critical. Just because I was shooting a TV show with prosumer cameras did not mean that I did not need the same type of professional support and service that I would need if I were shooting a show with a 35MM motion picture camera. If I had to send my cameras to one of those large repair facilities where you can never talk to a tech and it takes a month to get your cameras back I would be out of a job. So I guess for me it's a lot less about Specialized Communications' amazing price on the HVX 200 and whole lot more about their amazing customer support. I guess if price was all that was important to me I would buy all my gear from large face-less mail order companies like B&H Photo. In the ten years that I have worked in the motion picture & television industry I have come across very few organizations that I would recommend as whole heartedly as I would recommend Specialized Communications.

I appreciate Specialized stepping up and making themselves know, but it's hard to shake people loose from a company like EVS and people like Rush, because a lot of us have ordered from him and have had no problems to speak of. It's a case of "if it ain't broken, don't try and fix it". Plus, special deals and perks don't hurt. :)

What can I say, I'm loyal, but not to a fault. Rush rocks! :)

Thanks Insanity! Hey were any of you guys over at ResFest today? Man that camera rocked! I tried my darndest to spot one bit of fringe or artifacting or noise, but I just couldn't no matter how hard I looked, no matter how fast the camera panned. On a 60' screen, that image was crystal clear. It was rolled off to DVCPRO-HD tape, and bumped back to Digital. Jan said that if it hadn't gone to tape, but stayed in the P2 digi-realm, it would look even better. It was so responsive, it would pull up a recorded video clip instantly. The DR on that camera is incredible. In the same exposure you had a brass bowl with a big reflection on it, and dark shadows, and you could see detail in both. Nothing blown out, nothing too dark. :cheesy:

2gb P2 cards...r they worth the money you save?

2gb P2 cards...r they worth the money you save?

Hi everyone,

First posting. This camera is going to be phat, I seen it at the res fest in LA today, and the images are crisp. 4,000 for the 2 8gb P2 cards is quite alot of money. What do u think of using say...the 2gb P2 cards? And what is the best price on the 2gb cards that anyones' seen?

I'm thinking, for my purposes, 2 gb cards, and just keep them rotating with my field laptop.

Is it worth the money savings to do this?

Thanx

Hi Jamwave, it may be more efficient to just get 1 8GB card. We will be selling them a la carte at a better price than that. The 2GB card will only hold 2 minutes of 1080, or 5 minutes of 720p. My dialogue scenes tend to go longer than 2 minutes. If you will be shooting 1080i, you may want to reconsider, or rent when you need the card until the prices come down. A 2-week rental of 1-8GB card will be $175 with our HVX-Club discount.

Either that or wait for the Firestore Hard Drive to come out. You'll get that cheaper than one card, and it holds 10x more data.

I don't know if the 2gb cards will work for high-def; they were designed for the standard-def SPX800. The 4gb card will definitely work though.

As far as pricing, we don't know for sure what the final bundles will be. Maybe Jan will come up with a camera package that includes 4gb cards -- that might really lower the price of entry! Sure you'd have less overall storage, but for someone like you who's considering using a 2gb card, the 4gb should be heavenly (a 4gb card still gives you over 10 minutes of 720/24p footage). I asked Jan to keep the fiscally-challenged among us in mind when considering the marketing bundles that she decides to offer; obviously she'll do what's in the best interest of Panasonic, but I am optimistic that we may see a third option (i.e., the $5995 no-card camera, the $9995 two 8-gb bundle, and now maybe we'll see something more in the middle with two or three or four 4gb cards).

I just wanted to say that, as someone who has not placed a pre-order for an HVX, I will be looking for the best deal on a package in spring 2006, a time that best fits my purchasing schedule. I'll consider any dealer for the best combination of price and service. I have bought from EVS, but I've also bought from a half dozen other specialty retailers from New York to California to Hong Kong. It is hard to beat the service from EVS, which has been by far the best experience I've had so far. I like to think I know what's up, but all the staff at EVS are equally well informed on the appropriate accessories and that's why EVS is recommened here quite often. But, as I said, I'll consider any and all dealers, with a leaning towards the ones who support this message board. I've learned a lot from this message board and will support the companies who keep it afloat. Thanks to all the companies represented here who keep the board afloat.
