Am I the only one that wishes panasonic was part of the HDV pact?
I mean to get HD from this cam at the best price is $9,343.17 CAD(direct conversion for hvx+firestore). And I just know canadian stores will mark it up even more so I'm looking realistically $10,500-11k. I don't know if I can ever afford this being a college student.
I may have to start looking at a Z1U because I love the non-shouldermount form factor of the dvx. And all my accessories like my fig rig and **** work better with that form factor.
After the feature I'm shooting this summer with my dvx I want my next to be HD and wish panasonic had a dvx-hvx form factor that had the framerates of the hvx that captured like the JVC does and just records to tape like the JVC(after all JVC and Panasonic are owned by the same company).
Because at least then if I bought a $6000 USD camera (which is $7000CAD but would probably sell at $8000 realistically) I could at least shoot HD with the damn thing right out of the box.
All I want is the dvx-hvx type form factor that shoots 24p HD, I could care less of the format, any HD format is better than dv. Is this so hard to ask?
To me low-budget filmmaking is no longer low-budget.
And all these calculations where done before even considering the 15% tax we have to pay on everything.
And I know how much a DVCPRO HD tape drive costs to make that why I suggested HDV like the JVC.
And no, being attached to a laptop all the time is not a viable option for the way I shoot. So to me the hvx would basically a super expensive 16:9 dvx.
*Sigh* My dvx just might be the last panasonic I ever buy.
