alone...

I've been alone for a long time. My last girlfriend was 2 and a half years ago. She was a creepy stalker *****. I mean, I've had my fair share of people I've "been with"...but that never constitutes as a relationship. Single and loving it (kinda...aside from the points when I am lonely)

Take advantage of it man, flirt a little, have a good time. You will find a nice girl you can be with in due time.

Best,

-Matt

I want to be married and have a family... the closeness of a relationship like that cannot be replaced on a human level with anything... I am focusing on my career, but tis' tough sometimes, you know.

Life is tough... I married the 'love of my life', my 'soulmate', had 2 beautiful daughters...and 9 years later...divorced!

...now I've been divorced for 10 years...and I have to say, being single is not a bad thing. In my case I made sure to focus on my children and they have grown-up just fine.

You never know what's going to happen in life...but I'm sure we're never given more than we can handle.

Hang in there Brandon, focus on work..but give yourself some time to grieve, it's perfectly normal...give yourself a break.

A family is nice. You are young yet. I am far to young to consider marriage. I can't stay in a relationship myself...

It is hard, loneliness is a killer. It brings you down to nothing. You will find someone. Half of it is being proactive. You miss 100% of the shots you never take. Who knows, maybe the girl you will marry you will meet at a coffee shop. One of my closest friends I met at a three day conference. Saw each other for a few hours in that time and we clicked. Who knows what would have happened if we lived closer. Neither of us is a fan of long distance relationships.

But fact of the matter is, you never know when someone amazing will come into your life. Which is why I mentioned flirt a little. Be outgoing and meet people. She might be the one standing next to you at Starbucks.

And here are lyrics from a song that I think is very appropriate for you. "Someday Soon" Nerina Pallot

Guess it's true -
I only ever wanted to be with you.
And now I find i've lost my way to go...
I always mess it up
You should have known i'm not reliable.
And now, when i'm tired,
I can't get to sleep.
My thoughts won't desert me
And I cannot dream.
The colours haved changed, only grey in my life
Now my sense of belonging has gone with my smile...
But I know someday soon
I will get home
And I know someday soon
I won't be alone
Yes I know someday soon
I will get home
Is this my life?
Is this the product of the years i've tried
So very hard yet I can't make a choice
And when I find the words,
I've lost my voice - I'm still a quiet one...
But you know my river
And it still runs deep
A hundred and thousand more secrets to keep...
I'm waiting for answers I know are inside
Now my teacher is here I can open my eyes...
But I know someday soon
I will get home
And I know someday soon
I won't be alone
Yes I know someday soon
I will get home
But you know my river
And it still runs deep
A hundred and thousand more secrets to keep...
I'm waiting for answers I know are inside
Now my teacher is here I can open my eyes...

God. I posted earlier in response to this thread but it seems to have vanished. Sometimes I wonder if Jason goes around deleting random posts of mine to watch me react all weird about it. So here it is. Funny thing is, I just watched a video that made me think harder about this subject, so maybe my post will be better:

I am waaaaaaaaaaay too young to even think about marriage and family, but I am not too young to know what this loneliness is. I feel like I have wasted so much of my time not trying. I always had this twisted logic and it really ****ed me over in the end, because now I have missed so many chances, thinking about it makes me sick.

I have a friend who thinks I am crazy when I talk about this. He doesn't understand why it is such a big deal to me. I just have this absence inside of me that I want filled. I see people who are happy with others and I think "That's all I want." I just want someone to hold hands with and laugh with. I just want someone to want me. But I have wasted so much ****ing time not trying to fill that hole that now I am realizing I made a big mistake. This year is the year I am going to jump out of that damn window, and I just hope there is someone at the bottom to catch me - or at least cushion my fall. :) [/serious penguin]

Well, now that you have all read my deepest thoughts, go ahead and call me those names you are dying to utter now...just do it...get it out...Gage? :D

What? I dont get to call you names all the sudden? I feel left out. Oh well. Just let me tell you I've been there. Right there. It aint fun, but looking back and married now I'm glad I was there. Now I know both sides of the fence really well and I think I'm better for it. You have alot more appreciation for "something" after you've been to "nothing".

And I hate to echo the words of many, but it will happen when it happens. Not much you can do to force it. Having said that though, go out and have a good time. Just dont get too attached. They're all freakin nuts and will empty your wallet quickly. All of them :)

Jeff, I have talked to some people and we have decided you can, in fact, call me names. Moreover, we have opened the name calling to every member except The Como (unless he comes out of his hole).

Wow! You are way too young to be worrying about this sort of thing.
Slow down and put it in neutral for a little while.

Weird. I hadn't heard of that song. I wrote a song a few months ago with the same title, "Someday Soon," about breaking up with my girlfriend. I was going to post the lyrics here, but decided they were too depressing...

I've got some other words instead. First, I totally feel you with wanting to focus on career stuff - and the difficulty therein - when there's that nagging feeling of loneliness. I've been making plans almost entirely based on career stuff lately as a way to block out the ex-girlfriend sentiments, but I don't think that's necessarily the best solution either: There's gotta be some balance; and I think (for me anyway) some of that balance consists of taking some real time to mourn the loss, as incredibly effing painful as it is...

And secondly, from what I can tell, by reading some of your posts and taking a look at your website, you seem to be a believer. If that's the case, maybe these words will be helpful. They have been for me.

They're from a poem by George Herbert, called, "The Bag":

Away, Despair! My gracious Lord doth hear.
Though winds and waves assault my keel,
He doth preserve it: he doth steer,
Ev'n when the boat seems most to reel.
Storms are the triumph of his art:
Well may he close his eyes, but not his heart.

Thanks for sharing, man. Godspeed.

When I was in LA, Zak's girlfriend Jamie seemed to know an awful lot about some place called: "Roscoe's Clown House" or something like that. Anyway, I'm sure a couple of trips there will set you right up and make you feel a hundred times better.

Oh yeah and Tommy went on and on about the Rhino Cage. I guess at the Zoo. Anyway, he said that was great for curing the blues too.

No, no, no. Roscoe's has the lowest form of stripper in the western hemisphere. C-section scars, missing teeth, knife wounds, heroin tracks and bullet hole scars.

Just say "NO" to ..... oh,.... wait.... I'm thinking of "Jumbo's Clown Room".

I dont know of Roscoes. Are you combining Jumbo's Clown Room with Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles?

That's not a tasty picture.

I married relatively young, 23 years old, and thirteen years later I can honestly say it was the best decision I ever made. If it wasn't for the happiness my wife and daughter brought me I probably would've hung myself years ago. Life's a ***** and being with the right person can make it so much more tolerable. We've had our ups and downs, I'm not going to lie, but it's been real good for a long while now and keeps getting better. Marriage isn't for everyone, but it seems like it's what you want Brandon so don't give up trying to find that right person. It can happen. It did to me. And I have the dating skills of a log.

I agree with the "be pro-active" statement. You want to be a successfull filmmaker, godamit! If you follow that passion, improve on a day to day basis, you'll certainly meet more interesting people. You're still in the beginning of your journey.

You know what is a good anti-depressant? Watch a movie like "Rocky Balboa". Corny, but damn full of heart and fulfilling.

It will happen when it is intended to happen, Brandon. No need to force it. Just focus on what you want to achieve right now, look for your friends, be yourself, follow your principles and your goals, and keep improving. The more you are confident, the better chances for things to happen and for people to trust, help and feel attracted to you.
