AG-DVX200 4K Large-Sensor Handheld Camcorder

I remember hearing some rhetoric about the UK pricing having the potential to come down from the list price of £4080(inc vat). Well HPreston have it at £3479inc vat, which is a huge reduction! I wonder if other retailers will follow.

Has anyone purchased in the UK at the original list price already? If I were you I'd make some enquiries about saving myself £600.
 
Can anyone explain to me what might have been the reason Panasonic dropped the exposure meter from the DVX200? You only get to set exposure with the waveform monitor, the histogram or zebras. So how do you adjust for say, one stop underexposed?

That's a significant discount from the list £3420 + VAT (4080 inc as you said) and HPreston are possibly pushing sales at the expense of margin (maybe they have stock and not enough interest in the camera), as no one else in the UK is selling below list. It's a brand new product, it will be a while before it sells below list elsewhere IMHO. Never dealt with HPreston before, but sometimes their pricing is strange - not sure if there is a catch here.
 
H Preston are a very good and reputable dealer. I bought my Sony PMW-300 from them (and sold them my EX3). CVP (who I bought my Canon C100 from) will price match any other UK dealer, in case you did not know. See the terms on their website. I currently have a Sony FS-5 on pre-order with CVP. I've also bought cameras (and a lot of Apple Mac Pro gear, G-RAID systems etc.) from Jigsaw24 in Nottingham. All 3 dealers have been superb at customer support/to deal with.

I wonder if it may be a mistake by HPreston...... in which case get in quick! :)

Their VAT inclusive price is very close to the VAT *EXCLUSIVE* price that most other retailers are quoting for it. Just makes me wonder........ :)
 
Interesting. Often, the US prices are the same as the UK prices but in dollars rather than pound sterling.
 
Just had an odd update from B&H on the dvx200. I contacted someone from B&H yesterday about exactly when their inventory was coming and whether they had enough inventory to cover all pre-orders. I was told via email that purchasing had informed him the more units were arriving yesterday and it would cover all pre-orders as well as some additional orders. Based on that information I called in yesterday and placed my order. I called back today to see when my order would be shipped out and was informed that the manufacturer was moving the delivery date forward to mid/late December!!??

I tried confirming that information with another customer service rep a few minutes later and he also verified that the arrival date of new units had changed to December...odd!

Barry have you heard about any delays or problems in delivering ?

Some been claiming they have camera in stock since end of September

I haven't heard of anyone having it that early but I know Adorama had it in stock last week and had units available

Just wondering if anyone else has heard about a delay in inventory on this camera or is it just a B&H related problem
 
As I write this, the B&H product page for the DVX200 still shows an expected availability date of 10/15. I guess we'll know more tomorrow! I submitted my order on 10/6, but have no idea where that places me in the queue to receive one.

I got mine from Adorama, last week, it was the second to last one the had. I noticed a day later, Adorama had removed its ad on Amazon, but now, today, there is someone else on Amazon who this afternoon reported they had eight of them for the same price. So check Amazon. I cancelled my order with B&H when Adorama said they had them.

Check again......ETA is gone now.
 
I just found the mid to late December delivery timeline kind of strange.

It made me wonder if their was something wrong with the first run of the camera.

As far as I know cameras are actively shipping and being delivered to customers. There are many dealers other than B&H; try EVS or Texas Media Systems or EC or Adorama or whoever your local dealer is. They should be in stock around the country unless that particular dealer is sold out.
