AG-DVX200 4K Large-Sensor Handheld Camcorder

Don't people have to have a reputation for manufacturers to send them pre production models to test? Looking at some of these clips it looks like any schmuck can get a pre production camera in his hands. So many amateur mistakes. Looking forward to Barry's clips when he can release something. At least we will know the camera will be used at it's best.

Most all of the camera manufacturers have locked down B & H with MAP pricing....meaning in most cases you will pay the same price from B & H as you do from me. It has been that way for the last couple of years....

I don't want to directly disagree with you, but I spoke with a reseller of Panasonic gear who said that recently Panasonic has been extremely poor in their enforcement of MAP. The pricing I've seen leans me to believe that, but you may know better than i do. He might have been referring to older models (AC160 was what we were talking about at the time), that possibly Panasonic isn't enforcing the MAP pricing on.

Obviously, a release like this will be MAP across the board.

I believe the cameras from the consumer side do get priced "all over the map"...not MAP.....the marketing bulletin is not out yet so until it does, we're not going to worry about it.

That is precisely what I was thinking as well. How does a preprod camera get sent to someone who obviously does not know how to shoot???

Perhaps these guys can shoot and shoot well but they could only use auto functions that were not dialed in. Before we judge them remember that not all functions, perhaps some critical ones, were active.

Fair enough. We don't know enough about that shooting scenario. Either way, it's strange that it would get posted but, then again, there was footage posted previously that was shot through a window so who knows?

Well now the upload with the Boat showed different profile schemes up to white clipping. I think that was all intentional. As far as surgical profiling as Barry stated I love those options. The less post processing for shadows and contrast the better conserved image going through comprehension.

Regarding pricing here in the UK. A couple of sites have it listed for £3400 (£4080 inc vat), so what are the chances of this being the final uk price if Panasonic hasn't finalised prices in other regions?

There is no difference in the quality when you switch between HD and SD. This couldn't be real. Why would you bother now days.

WestBuy is a legitimate retail outlet (sort of like a Romanian B&H), which makes me believe that the video is legit as well. As to what res Vimeo uploads from Romania is anyone's guess. I'd have chosen YouTube but they may not let 4K from Romania either.

in both the case of the LA fire dept. video and that one from Romania (legit or not) i think there is value in putting these tools in the hands of...not amateurs, but people who aren't just off the set of the latest blockbuster. I'm sure Shane Hurlbut could make my iPhone look fantastic, but i use it and it looks better than a lot of people using it but still looks like an iPhone. It's certainly more representative of what I'm likely to achieve on my first day with the camera. Honestly more telling of what you can expect in the conditions i usually am under.

my $.02
