AC160 AG-AC160 Footage Requests

Thank you Stephen for doing this for us, i have one query please. You say you shot at F5-F8 for the tests but with the Imagers on this cam coming from the 370 series cams, we cant go above F5 without the picture going soft. Is the new lens so good that you can go to F8 without a soft image? I am at work so i cannot look at your footage until later.

All of them have LPCM audio. :D
Point of clarification -- only PH mode can have LPCM audio. The HA, HE, and PM clips will have Dolby Digital AC3 audio.

PH mode has the choice of either AC3 or LPCM, but only on the AC160. The AC130 only has AC3. Even so, the audio in PH is always better than the audio in any other mode; in AC3 mode the PH audio is 384kbps, whereas in other modes it's 256kbps.

Interesting. I hadn't noticed when I switched modes that the LPCM had gone away in the display. Might be nice if the display would show DD or something similar when not in LPCM mode.

Well... it sort of does, in that it won't show anything if you're not in LPCM mode. In other words -- if you're in PM, or HA, or HE mode, or you're using PH mode in DD, there won't be a logo displayed at all. But if you then switch to LPCM mode, it'll display the LPCM icon. So, if you don't see LPCM, you're not in LPCM.

Would be nice if it said AC3 instead, but it doesn't.

Okay, so here are the moire and skew tests (as best I can do with the resources I have at the moment). The first two clips are shots of the most complex patterned fabric I could find in my house. And from what I could see in the footage, very, very little if any moire or aliasing.

The next series of shots are of the fence in my backyard, with pans to show skew performance. In order of approximate focal length (as show on the camera monitor), the are…

- Full Wide
- 10mm
- 40mm
- Full Tele

I've mixed up the panning speeds, and while skew is, as expected, more visible at longer focal lengths, I can honestly say that under normal use and camera movement speeds, I'd never notice it. Yes, when you whip the camera around, it's there. But those are shots I'd consider unusable in all but the most extreme conditions. Here's the clip…

Here's the Gain test. This one is pretty simple. I set up the camera in the street outside my house. it's pretty dark, with just a streetlight, a light on a house, and the full moon above. The video simply steps through each of the Gain levels (0db through 18db) and then to 24db Supergain. Camera settings were the same as the skew/moire test above.

Oh, and at the end of the clip, I pointed the camera at the full moon. The first shot is full wide, where the moon is a dot. The last clip is full tele, where the moon…well…isn't. :D

Okay, the next set of tests is up. Since I'm running out of time with the camera, I had to do these pretty quickly, so the OIS shots may be a bit over or under-exposed, but that's the way it is. So, here's what's in this clip…

- DRS Test (Stepping through each DRS level from OFF through DRS 3)
- Lens Flare Test
- Bokeh Test (First at 64mm, Second at 86mm)
- OIS Handheld Test (First at Full Wide, Second at 16mm)

And…that's all the tests I had time to do before I had to return the camera. Sorry if I didn't get to some of the ones on the list, but if others have access to the 160 and want to do them, they can feel free to post them here.

Thank you!
What scene file did you use?
Do you think picture is not saturated enough or the weather was like that.
