Great, then everyone is happy. Well... not everyone. Some people need to sell and ship their duplicate bodies and some are still waiting. :)

I can understand the urge to place many orders though. I can also understand why Amazon can't let several dozen people, possibly more, pre-order and then just up and cancel.

I hope all goes well with my order. ePhotoCraft hasn't yet received their batch. But they are in the NYC general area, so I am hopeful they will get them either today or tomorrow.

Just to be clear. I didn't think it was funny that you were stuck with one you didn't want, or that others may be waiting because of you doing that. My smiley was meant to show I was being courteous and polite about it, not endorsing it.
 
Just to be clear: I'm not making fun of anyone stuck with unneeded pre-orders. 'Cause I'm one of them. But I do find the situation rather tragicomic.

The upside is that if Amazon is quicker than TigerDirect, then I'll have a 7D in my hands sooner rather than later. And I can just flip the TD-ordered one.
 
I don't see what the problem is with placing multiple pre-orders. My Adorama order just went through, so I canceled my Amazon pre-order one hour ago (also placed on September 1st). Now everyone behind me just moved up a notch, right?

Twenty minutes ago. Maybe because I buy a lot of crap from Amazon, though? I'm a Prime Member sooo... No website's gonna stop me from cancelling my order because they're behind on the times. =D

Hey Kohli, I hope you'll be putting it through its paces as soon as you get yours and starting a thread about it.

I would love to read about your take on the codec, how to handle it, in-camera settings, details about the noise at different ISOs, so on, so forth.

There will be such an explosion of information here over the next week that will blow away the GH1 chatter from back at the end of April!

I'd say that this is a launch done right. In a week, we'll all know almost all that there is to know about this camera. :grin:

Seriously. The GH1 is still back-orderd. And how many potential customers have now jumped ship and placed orders with Canon?

Ha, you won't believe this I just got a call from Panasonic Direct for the GH1 I ordered months ago. The one that was backordered and which I cancelled the order for way back in June. They called to ask if I wanted to extend the coverage on my camera. The camera I never GOT. Looks like they're still trying to get their act together. Hopefully they figure it out by their next release. :huh:
 
Helen Oster from Adorama customer service has been posting at cinema5d and she indicates that anyone who pre-ordered between 9/1-9/7 are getting their cameras shipped today and tomorrow.... unfortunately since I ordered last week, it looks like I'm stuck on some ridiculous waiting list that she says she can't be specific about until they get the next order info from Canon. :furious3:
