Adapting Non-AI Nikkor Lenses to EOS mount

Like the title says, I was wondering how you would go about adapting .

I just won a nikkor 24mm 2.8 non-ai ( http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...PageName=ADME:B:EOIBSA:US:1123#ht_2044wt_1376 ) on ebay, and before I go buying adapters, I wanted to make sure I was getting the right version. Can anybody show me which kind of adapter I need to purchase? I'm not sure which version of Nikon to EOS I need, as non are labelled through non ai/ai.

also, any input on the lens itself? from what I can tell, it's a pretty popular lens.

I have only used the photodiox adapters. Their cheap ones work about as well as their expensive ones, but the cheap ones are not as durable. I recommend getting a bunch of their cheaper ones and leave them on the back of each Nikon lens you want to adapt. Switching the ring off to another lens is a time waster that will hurt you in the long run.

The issue with the adapter ring is the micro wobble caused by space or gap between lens and body. Can still get sharp focus. Although, you have to be careful because lenses focus beyond infinity and cause the image to go blurry again. If you work with an 1st AC, make sure the Camera OP gets a good look when focussing on on distant objects.

It doesn't matter, Non-AI/AI only matters to a Nikon body, an EOS body won't use any metering features of any adapted lens - ie AI means aperture indexed, so that the body will understand/detect the aperture of the lens, an EOS body doesn't need or know what the aperture is, therefore all F-mount -> EOS adapters will work with AI or non-AI (obviously, you can end up with a crappy one but most should be fine).

That is correct. What you want is a Nikon F mount to Canon EOS mount adaptor. There are a lot of them out there. I use the lower cost Chinese manufactured ones with F mount lenses (Both AI and pre-AI) on a T2i without issue.

be careful, the pre ai nikon manuals have a larger metal flange sticking out near the rear element and this can hit the electronic contacts within your eos mount

Bought that one 2 years ago for my DOF adapter (EOS mount) and all I had at the time was Nikon mount lenses. Still using the same and works well. Never had any problem with it. For the price it's hard to beat.

I used the RainbowImaging adapters off of Amazon and never had any trouble (picked them over fotodiox because they had free shipping). It's definately worth it to get a new adapter for every lens.

As for the 24mm f2.8, I bought one a couple of months ago and love it. It's definatly my wide-angle workhorse.

ive been spoiled with dirt cheap m42 to canon adapters that were solid with absolutely no play. ive bought 3 different nikon to canon adapters that all have play. is there a cheap adapter out there that has no play or do i have to spring for an expensive one? Do people just put up with the slight amount of play in their cheap adapters?

Sorry for the hijack but I didn't want to make yet another thread about adapters. Are there any adapters for Nikon lenses that keep the back focus correct? My buddy has a nice set of Nikon mount Zeiss ZE lenses from a 35mm adapter rig and wants to move to a 7d. Keeping the back focus correct would be awesome...

Cameraquest or Novaflex. It likely won't matter what you use if it's not a wide angle lens tho.

some will hit the golden EF electronic contacts, pre ai, I've personally experienced this

don't use a hacksaw (metal dust is very bad), bend with pliers till it breaks free
