It's a pitty the latter is .m2t or .avi, as far as I know there is no QT format in this little Sony but it weights only 220 grams w/o battery.

Apparently it works with any cam via firewire, but only certain Sony cams will have auto start/stop of the recording, and even fewer have display of HD status. If you use a non-Sony cam you have to start and stop the recording manually at the HD unit.
For those editing 24f on the pc, ala Vegas and Premiere, have you tried mixing 24f and 60i in the same timeline? Since there is no 24f output to tape as of yet...I would be content to export 24f in a 60i stream in the same way the DVX handles 24p. Just curious if anyone has experimented with this at all.
And the JVC deck will not play Canon footage at all.philnerd said:Eh? Looking at B&H the cheapest HDV deck is a JVC for $1750. Then Sony comes in at the 2-3K range.
There will likely never be such a deck. Canon has never built a deck, and Sony has no incentive to support a competitor's format. There may be a deck that supports 24F eventually, but its not going to cost less than the HV10...
I would be very surprised if it worked for 24F or 30F. Sony decks don't support 24F or 30F at all, so I wouldn't expect their firewire hard disk recorder to support it either.SamKam said:Is there any compatibility issue with the XH A1 and the Sony HVR -DR60?
