"A Verse Before Dying" - AF-100 Western Short

Stephen, can you post one clip in the original MTS format? I am dying (pun intended) to test audio compatibility with my NLE. Any clip that has sound on it would do! Thanks.

Will do. I'll try to get it posted later tonight.

I'd do it now, but I'm on my way to see True Grit!

Stephen, and everyone else involved, very nice work. Thanks for sharing it with us and getting it to us so quickly.

Timur, if you haven't done so elsewhere and are willing, could you tell us what gamma, matrix and detail setting you used? Thank you.

Congratulations Guys, your collaborative good will has paid off in spades. You have realised the potential of the AF100 - I particularly like the dream sequences, lots of great camera movement & audio. Cheers Richard

Me thinks we're going to CRASH Vimeo!! :) It's loading...I'm popping popcorn....where do I send money to buy tickets? :)

OK...on that note: Are there plans to sell this on BluRay? (No sarcasm...not kidding) I think many of us would appreciate (and pay for) this on Bluray. Thoughts? *still loading* Popcorn's ready!

I liked the piece. Great job indeed.

To be honest, aesthetically speaking, I would have really liked to see some grain. The image was actually too clean haha.

I thought the production values were really solid; the camera work was fluid, the lighting was subtle and natural. The camera looked good except for some blow-out highlights. I thought the storytelling and writing left a lot to be desired tho. The dream sequence was confusing and just didn't work, and overall the editing had a clunky feel to it. I know a lot of effort went into this, and I respect that, but overall, not quite ready for prime time.

LOL! Really funny stuff. Oh the "experts" on this site are quite something. Voice without authority, oh... the internet. The "blown-out hightlights" bit..... precious.

Kudos to all who worked on this. Very, Very VERY well done.
I second that!
Really great job & an excellent showcase for the camera too. The location....just stunning and now you're all part of history!
Thanks again for sharing. Wow.

:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Welcome to DVXUser. I'm no-one...just another member. That said...you may want to provide some points of reference for your opinion. (ie: link to your work) That's a mighty big opinion....we'll all hope that your reel gives us a point of reference as to why it's so big. If its not....uh....chill just a bit. We believe in respect here...so make sure to show some. Cool.

Specifically, "I thought the storytelling and writing left a lot to be desired tho....and overall the editing had a clunky feel to it....not quite ready for prime time."

You must be entering the next DVXFest and you're going to show us all how it's done? This IS NOT personal from me to you. It's just getting a bit old to have someone with less than 50posts talking like they're Francis Ford Coppola. So...again...respect, right? Chill, right?

Simply amazing. The first word that comes to my mind is creamy. All the colors just creamy smooth. I think this proves the codec holds up extremely well. THe wood grain on the bar, the tall grass and trees would have been trouble for any of the HDSLR's. Fantastic work by a fantastic team of film makers and story tellers.

Wow. This thread started on Nov. 26th. Here it is, December 22nd and we have a wonderful, finished product.

It's so great that you were able to just get out there and produce something (to be proud of ;) ).

Really liked the pacing.

I enjoyed that, good enough that I just watched it through without thinking about the camera and had to go back and concentrate on that afterwards :-)

I'm just starting pre-production on a (low budget) feature and depending on whever we can afford a Red(which is currently the plan) I would happily shoot on this cam and not worry about it at all... although I may look into a nano flash as I think the film will need a fair amount of grading for some scenes.

This film was pushed pretty hard in post and it was all done with ProRes from the native codec.

Congratulations boys. I thought you all did a very good job.

Whoever was the sound designer,, your ambience was beautiful.

Thank you Barry and the team!!!

Well done guys and gals.. and thanx for all your efforts in launching the new camera and posting your results with so much detail.

They have been invaluable from a real world pov.

Looking forward to what follows as other film makers , including me, get their hands on the AF100's from herein.
