A plea to Panasonic....Please read and add your name if you agree.

Add me to the list... That said, an incentive would make me consider purchasing more than one!...

***REBATE***
For a limited time, owners of AF100 and AF100a camera systems will qualify for a $1000 rebate with proof of purchase of a new AF200 or AF200PX.

No, sorry for being the party pooper, but we shouldn't have to beg for a working man's camera. I can't tell you how many Panasonic products I have owned over the years, but it is a lot. And now, sorry but if Panasonic refuses to listen to the end users and create a bread and butter camera that we have been asking for, I guess we are not their target market. You know I can't help but think that some of the decision makers in the Panasonic Broadcast division are living in a bubble, and are so far removed from reality that they haven't a clue as to what real working folks want. Even when we scream and beg for it, they refuse to listen! Sad, truly sad.

I'd buy it if it debuted before I migrate out of the m43 system, which I'd really rather not do but may have no other choice. Or maybe JVC can get the job done.

I'd be very interested in a cinema version of the aj-px270. That is, the entire aj-px270 backend, CODECs especially, married to an S35 sensor and, say, a PL mount.

But I'm not interested in a lesser camera -- I'm not interested in 8 bit, nor 4:2:0. Been there, done that, not doing that again. But I'm very interested in 10 bit, 4:2:2 AVC Ultra long GOP 50. Like I said, the entire aj-px270 backend.

And I wouldn't pay any extra for 4K. I'd take it if that's the way it comes, but that's not much of a value add to me and I wouldn't use it. PITA for very little gain. More dynamic range, yes. Higher ISO, yes. Better smoother tonal transitions, yes. Better ergonomics, yes. Just more pixels, no.

David's description of this being a "working man's camera" is perfect. That is why I want this camera. I'm not a filmmaker or into cinema or anything like that. Right now, most of my work is medical... either provider bio's, patient testimonials, or surgeries. Having to rig up a GH4 with the brick and all that entails... separate power supply, a monitor for can actually be adjusted, audio, a LOT of cables... is not something I want to take into a surgery where a doctor has his hand wrapped around some guys colon (that's coming up in two weeks) where I have limited room to move for obvious safety reasons. Granted that's a bit more extreme than most, but even the rest of what I do is far closer to resembling ENG work than "film making". A properly rigged out GH4 just doesn't appeal to me for that.

That's why I love the AF100... it's a proper video camera, but with a large sensor in it. And even then, the fact that it's m4/3 and not S35 is huge... I can get shallow DoF if I want it, but don't have to fight it; the lenses are less expensive and lighter but just as (if not more) impressive (I LOVE my 12-35 X and 35-100 X lenses), and none of my clients give a rat's rear end that it's not S35 so long as the end product looks nice. A PX270 body (with the AVC-Ultra family of codecs) with an m4/3 sensor and mount is absolutely perfect for me and my business needs. And I know there are a ton of folks like me, which is why it befuddles me why it's so hard for Panasonic to come up with something like this, when the template and pieces are already there and we've collectively been asking for it for years.

If they use the PX270 back end, you'll get both of those (OP's photoshop just overlooked 25p, and w/ PX270 you can optionally record to SD cards in the MicroP2 slots). It's a highly flexible design that should work well for anything from compressed-shooting long presentations to high-bitrate broadcast acquisition.

And that's the beauty of the design... at least in theory you can shoot AVC-LongG25 to an SD card, all the way up AVC-Intra 200 on traditional P2 cards (and if they put in a expressP2, you can start dealing with 4k for those who want that). Between that and the m4/3 mount, it would probably be about the most versatile design on the market.

+1 agreed.
