We’re hoping to get some good buzz about the film, as I begin working on a feature script based on the short.

Hey, Brandon.

What's the Festival? I thought for these sort of Festivals you didn't plan things ahead of time.
You just show up.... they tell you the theme/required element and off you go.

36 hours to come up with a script, location, shoot, edit, etc...

I guess this one is different. How does it work?

Yes, it is... here's the info on the contest...

http://www.christianfilmmakers.org/contest

Basically we have to put in three of seven possible security elements to prove we started production and ended in 36 hours... but I like the ability to develop a script and crew/cast up... otherwise I probably wouldn't have done it...

This short will also be used as a pitch tool for a feature script that is a part of the same "world"

I'm in need of a really good CG artist to do a skyline shot of a futuristic city, based on any city that currently exists.

So, as is normal..

my film is too long :D

We had to chop a lot of the emotion out of it to get it to the three minute run-time limit for the festival. We're still entering, and I'll post the link here when it's up, but we'll also be doing a longer cut in the future.

Congratulations Brandon! I'd love to hear about the process and logistics of putting a film like this together in 36 hours?

Looks good! I really like the look of the scenes towards the end. Suits what you were going for very well.

Hope you do well in the Fest.

How long is the extended cut going to be?

Hey!

The first draft of the extended cut is 5 min. 30 sec. without credits.

I am liking the pacing a lot better, allowing the characters to develop more.

Hope to have the extended cut completed by the middle of May :)

I'm going to be putting together a little Behind the Scenes video as well, with interviews and such... and get into making a short on a time schedule.

Results are in!

Results are in!

We placed third in the competition. If you're interested in viewing the final scores, and other competing films, here is the link with the list.

Now I'll be working on the extended cut, that I'll be submitting to some other festivals. And I'll be posting here once complete as well! Thanks for checking it out!

Woot! I'm excited about our placing and I really am happy for the guys who got first, they did an amazing job as well. You should all check it out!

I also made a post about this contest if anyone wants to kill some time: www.thewatchful.org/blog

Hey Brandon, what do you think about maybe posting to vimeo? pretty please? :)
Congrats to the whole crew, ya'll did a great job(especially under such time constraints!). I enjoyed being a part of this...

Just finished the FINAL CUT of the film and have sent it off to the sound/score team!

I've also begun outlining the feature script based off this short. Hope to have the short finished by end of April, and I will be sure to upload here for everyone to check out.
