7D Time-lapse with Generic Timer-Remote

My is my first time-lapse with the Canon 7D and a cheap remote-timer I bought off ebay. Lens = Tamron 17-55 f2.8. A little motion was added using After Effects. Thrilled with results, this being my first crack at it and all. I did learn a lot about exposure settings and trying to capture a sunset, so next time should be even better.

Thanks for watching,

~ Jim

Why would you need a cheap eBay timer? Doesn't the 7D have an intervelometer built-in?

I have the 5D Mark II so I could use one of those timers for time-lapse. Do you have a link?

That was one of the reasons that I wanted a 7D. Good to know it doesn't have one built in.

I was just looking up the intervalometer and found that it is the Canon TC-80N3. They run about $135.

eBay has Chinese knock-offs for about $30 bucks. Search for: canon timer remote.

I'm curious as to which one the original poster bought.

I'd be interested on this too. I haven't dabbled in time-lapse video yet, but I hope to when my 7D arrives and I can pick up an inexpensive remote. How did you get the motion of the photos? Thanks!

My timer arrived from Hong Kong. For under $30 bucks, it works exactly as expected. Here is my first attempt.

Looks so kewl! Hey guys.I got one on the way as well. How do you do those smooth pans????

Another stupid question. Is it better to have a shorter exposure time with more iso...or higher iso with faster shutter??? I am new..and I am struggeling not to get the grain and yellow hue. You guys stuff looks so clean and sharp. I suck!!!

He had some baaaad teeth. Getting 7k worth of dental work pro-bono in return for writing a magazine article about it. Not a bad deal!

can your exposure count be set above 399 [i.e. infinity?] I just bought it [that one from ebay in this thread]but it doesn't say... that would be stupid if it can't...

Yep, the cheapo 30 buck timer I have has up to 399 exposures, or infinity (which is really until the batteries run out).
