C100: 7 Weeks to NAB - Anyone hearing anything besides conjecture about a C100 MKIII?

Since buying the C300 MKII my gear acquisition syndrome has dropped to nothing. (saved money by spending more!)

I can see wanting 4K HFR eventually, so a C300 MKIII in 3-4 years time would be on the cards.

I think I could keep that for the rest of my life while all the young whippersnappers go to 8K.

At some point it just cant get any better. Better to invest in lighting and sound equipment than new cameras.

I don't know why any serious videographer would get a 5D4 to shoot video with in this day and age, even with a C-log upgrade. For photos I use it all the time, but haven't touched the video features in over a year.

So you run around with two cameras then? Or do you decide in advance for the next couple of hours you will only do video or photos?

It's simple things like this—much more than specs—that can make a shooter chose one solution over another in a heartbeat.

I have my 5D3 in my upper backpack compartment and the C100 in the lower one..... Ive been carrying both with me everywhere. However, after a week in Bangkok shooting mostly video, I've switched to mostly photos. As a run and gun video camera, the 5D3/4 is quite challenging going from the sunlight then indoors constantly, the C100 is effortless with the ND filters, as I don't have ND filters for all my lenses. Im not on a professional shoot, just walking around filming what I find interesting, but if you were on a professional shoot you most likely aren't using a 5D3 anyway. That said, the camera I use the most here is my iPhone.... ha!

There's no right or wrong here... I was just curious.

You're right that a DSLR body shooter needs to solve the 'ND problem'. I personally wish for integrated NDs (maybe electronically controlled like Sony's FS5) in future pro body DSLRs. Not holding my breath, obviously.

I'm using Lee 100mm filters that I can move really painlessly between lenses that have adapters on. Not ideal, but OK. Vari NDs seem good on paper, but I wasn't happy with IQ.

I'm with Michael, I shot for two years with the 5D MKIII. Never going back to the DSLR form factor for video as an A cam. I have an 80D I use on a Zhiyun Crane and it's great but will be replaced soon with a Fujfilm XT-2 as soon as I can buy the lenses it will need. But as my main camera, gotta have built in NDs, time code, other video cam features.

Not even with the U$600 Singh-Ray ND's?

Just curious.

There are a few new electronic ND's but they're built into the various EF-to-E adapters mostly and come from China or Korea with a questionable performance. A Panasonic poobah claimed that GH5 can't have an internal electronic ND due to a shallow flange distance but, given the multitude of the focal reducers/enlargers around, one'd think that this will be solved sooner rather than later.

Maybe even at this NAB.

When Sony came out with the FS100, they claimed the same
thing.....that the shallow flange distance of the e-mount, kept
them from putting in built in ND filters. Of course their next camera
was the FS700......which had an e-mount and built in ND filters.
Then the FS7 which had built in ND filters and the FS5 and FS7 II which
both have internal electronic variable ND filters. Didn't the AF100 have
the same lens mount as the GH5? How about the DVX200? Not sure I'm
buying the 'we couldn't put in ND filters' so much as the 'we didn't want to
put in ND filters, because this is a hybrid stills/video camera and we want
to keep costs down so as to appeal to more people/mass market.'
