$7.98 Lens mount adapters on eBay

ok, now they try to run a Ponzi scheme on the people who already put money into their bank account. I sent them 2 seperate messages 12 hours ago and still no reply. Not much expectation really, I just consider it as an opportunity missed.

You don't need to send them many messages.
Just send one firm one with points from my early post.
They could wait with hope that it'll resolve by itself.
Be patient at it'll pay up :-)

No contact from them yet, only the payment confirmation.

I bought 5 adapters from them yesterday, just before they changed their prices...

let's see...

Darn! Just as i thought, the price was too good to be true.

No word from the seller yet but wouldn't be surprised if my order gets cancelled due to the misprice.

This kind of thing happens all too often with eBay. A couple of weeks ago I won an auction for a video rig in "good condition". My winning bid was obviously much lower than the seller anticipated. So he refunded me my payment with the excuse that he'd only just noticed a huge crack in the rig and had therefore had to put it in the trash! I haven't left negative feedback or reported him to eBay, perhaps I should...

I hope that anyone who hasn't received a cancellation for these adapters actually gets their orders and good luck pursuing the seller if you don't.

Considering many M43 adapters on ebay are around $30. It was probably an honest typo , $3 instead of $30+. I won't post any negative feedback. Now I'll start looking for a $25 Panny AF100 :)

I am ok with honest typo of small seller selling his fathers lens.
But I am not ok with about 30 product misprices for few days by very alrge seller sending fantasy stories to buyers. He really worked ahrd to get your negative, do not let him wait.

Although Ebay only allows limited characters for feedback, I wonder if it might be a service to other potential bidders to post the link to this thread in the feedback area. That would provide more explanation and give a clearer view of what the seller is up to.

If he would have sent an email telling the truth, I would have said no problem. The fact that he is telling the story of no adapters available... then immediately posting the same ones for more money...

Did he think we wouldn't notice the immediate postings of the same products at higher prices?

First, link posting is prohibited, your feedback will be removed at least.

Next. People are not dumb. This seller certainly is.
As you can't sell something and tell people that you really do not have it.
It is very serious thing.
Few years ago I helped seller that had been removed from ebay due to small report from buyer bacause some delay and slight misunderstanding. After proper communication he had been restored. But generally ebay sellers have no rights compared to buyers.
It is nto very good, but talking to sellers it seems so.

orders for these adapters are being refunded. I got a lengthy email about how it was a "system error" that the prices were too low and so forth..

Blame Meg Whitman!!! It must have been a bug in her eBay software. Sorry, bad political humor for those of us living in California.

this thread is the best reason to buy locally whenever you can!
if you buy cheap, you get cheap. if you get it at all.....and if you do, it'll be 3 months from the time you ordered!

Well well, well, just received eBay notice that my $2.99 FD/Micro Thirds Adapter has just shipped, i'm guessing anyone who ordered just one and not multiples will be getting their adapter.

I was one of the first to order when this first broke, and they cancelled my order for 12 adaptors two days ago.

Same story here. Ordered 3 getting none .

I like the way that they billed my account first then are saying that they will refund me.
Why just not charge me in the first place...so annoyed.

I'd buy local if I could find one here in sydney.

I need a minolta MD, a nikon & canon FD

Here's the email they sent me earlier

I just received another email with the refund transaction number.

Thank you very much for your recent purchase from Virtual Village, however I am writing with regards to a problem that occurred during your transaction.

Unfortunately an error in our system meant a huge amount of our products were sold for $2.99 instead of for their real cost – which was as much as $50 in some cases!

This error has cost us a lot of money as many of the affected orders have already been shipped and in view of this we are writing to let you know that we have cancelled your order and refunded you in full.

I am really very sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you but I hope you understand that, as a small company, we can’t afford to lose such large amounts of money at the expense of a system error.

Please accept our sincere apologies for this situation and to hopefully make it up to you, we would like to offer you a generous discount on your next purchase. Please just send us a quick email before placing your next order so that we can make sure that this is taken care of.

Of course, if you have any comments or queries regarding this or any other matter please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

I've sent them an email the see how much of a discount I will get if I order a Nikon, Canon FD & Minolta MD adaptor.

I just want some adaptors ASAP!!!

I sent then a genuine non threatening, nice email when they said they had no stock and didn't know when they would have any in stock again. My reply was "hey you must have stock as you just listed them again at a more expensive price"

Guess they had no option but to ship it as they were caught lying in writing.

If you just want some adapters asap, order the fotodiox ones on Amazon. Fast shipping, always in stock, good quality, reasonable price.

Ordering camera parts from overseas eBay sellers is not for guys who want asap. Took 2 weeks for my knockoff LCDLF to get here from Poland, over 3 weeks for my Polish FD-m43 adapter. But if these had been available on Amazon for 2 day shipping, I would've gladly paid ten or twenty bucks extra for the asap.

I got my m4/3 PK adapter from this seller today. Better than usual build quality, I didn't go crazy and order a bunch, I figured I'd test one and then purchase the rest and do video reviews about the quality.

It's a shame about the pricing, the cancelled orders, etc as judging from the quality of the adapter I received, I certainly wouldn't hesitate to pick up 6-12 more for the same price for my gh1 and future AF100
