$7.98 Lens mount adapters on eBay

I recently picked up a GH1 and successfully applied the hack (woo-hoo!). I have also managed to bag a number of legacy lenses with a variety of different mounts for little money.

So, I've been checking eBay for some cheap adapters to go with my cheap lenses and have already purchased a couple.

Today, I noticed a Hong Kong seller virtualvillage-usa-delta was selling lens mount adapters for the GH1 for $2.99 + $3.99 worldwide postage each. From the photos, the adapters seem to be the same ones that other sellers are selling at more than twice the price.

Now, $7.98 including postage seems ridiculously cheap to me, almost too good to be true. Perhaps it's a mis-price? The seller looks legitimate and has 99.1% positive feedback. Never one to miss a bargain, I've just ordered four different adapters and hope they get delivered and aren't complete rubbish! I'll keep you posted...

What's even more intriguing is that the seller is offering Buy It Now or Best Offer. As if the price wasn't low enough already! I didn't have the cheek to offer a lower price and just went through Buy It Now.

Anyway, these are the adapters virtualvillage-usa-delta is selling

Canon FD
Contax Yashica
Leica M
Leica M39
Leica R L/R
M42
MD
Nikon
OM
PK
Sony MA

If you want to wait a month to get it...

You become too spoilt in USA :-) How about expedited parcel taking three months?
Plus any seller always lists maximum time to any country that he ships (otherwise it'll get many negatives).

Btw actual price is $4 per one (if you buy many adapters).

I just ordered a few. I figure they can't actually be very good, but my FotoDiox Nikon adapter just had the locking pin fall out, so -- it wasn't any good anyway. So as long as you're getting something to have laying around in the bag as a backup adapter, might as well try the $3 ones.

For my main "proper" adapter I think I'll go with the CameraQuest. Expensive, but seems like all the reviews are very positive.

They are good enought. And locking pins is their common flaw. :-)
This guy just pressed wrong button in ebay listing software making listing BIN instead of auction :-)

I have two of the Cameraquest ones and they really are excellent. Pricey but well built and tight.

Just bough two of the Contax C/Y and one of each of all the others. Cheap enough to have in the studio for that weird lens I might buy one day (or borrow off a photographer)

Yeah, thread for LBA addicted.

Normal question to LBA addict - "Can you tell me about lens we talked about half a year ago, one from Leica?"
Answer - "Sorry, just don't have enought time to do any shots with it, it is at 54 number in my waiting list. And parcels I got today can make this list bigger by 5 new items." :-)

Welcome your new Chinese overlords.

I also admit to buying a lot of camera gear from China that costs less than the price of a 6-pack of Budweiser....with free shipping. In a few months I'll have enough to finish filling ALL the potholes on my block, so the 18-wheelers can get through to stock up the new Wal-Mart they're building. :D

what type of Nikon lens will I be able to use with the adapter from that seller (where aperture will be controllable) ?

Just bought 5 adapters, I even bought adapters for lenses I don't own...but it is always good to have it around.

keep praising the Chinese guys :)) I ordered 6 different adapters yesterday from the above seller and now they told me it was the system error, they cancelled my order and increase their price. Law of arbitrary price. Anyone got their stuffs dispatched yet :D

They can't cancel the order or increase price.
Ebay policy.
Just leave them nagative feedback for every adapter and report to ebay.
It always work.
And tell that others will do the same.
Impact will be quite significant.
They changed prices just few hours ago (one price is still low :-) )

Thanks for suggestion Vitaly. I already sent them a message to see if I need to leave them 6 negative feedbacks. Afraid that 6 negative one won't matter much to them. :(

According to sales figures he can get around 100-120 at least in one day :-)
But even 6 feedback is very important.
And as I said, he'll get much more.

I can tell you how it happened.

This guy hired new assistant.
He selected bulk of goods for listing (wrongly adding converters).
Selected price. And here we are.
It is not system error. At best it is human error.

This is the email i received, they are trying to refund the money rather than supply the product.

Thank you for your recent purchase of the Canon FD Lens to Micro 43 m43 Adapter for GF1 E-P2, however, due to exceptionally high demand for this item we've found ourselves temporarily out of stock. This wouldn't have been an issue except our supplier delayed our delivery - something we sadly don't have any control over. Right now our supplier is unable to provide us with a definite delivery date, therefore I'm writing to ask if you would like to continue waiting or if you'd prefer a refund? Please accept our sincere apologies for this situation and for any inconvenience it may cause you, and I look forward to hearing from you so we may resolve this matter.

Best regards Justin Virtual Village Ltd

So, they already got some problems due to cancelling.
Now they made new story.
Just answer them that you'll wait 21 days (their longest shipping date) while reporting seller to ebay (this is called "non-performing seller") and if won't find adapter in your post box, you'll leave negative.
Few such reports could cost them much more money than adapters error.
Lets hope they'll make up some new story.
It sounds funny already.
