Mr. Powell *and others,
thru Cineform before it hits the NLE (720/ 30 or 1080 deinterlaced in CF);
I've seen this happen with auto-focus lenses on rare occasions as well. If recording starts before focus-lock has been achieved, you'll actually see the image come into focus in the initial frames of the video. If the camera is already straining to handle a high bitrate, this could be enough to provoke an internal write error. To preclude this pitfall with auto-focus lenses, I first get a focus-lock in AFS mode with a half-press of the shutter button, and then switch to manual focus mode before taking the shot....fortunately the errors came up immediately, at the beginning of a shot...
i'm not sure, but i think i was able to avoid further 'write errors' by turning AF off. at the time it seemed to me that the camera couldn't handle auto-focusing while writing 60mbps to the card.

I optimized the 50Mbps AVCHD 3-Frame GOP Patch specifically for AVCHD 720p30 mode, so it's probably not very stable when working at 720p60. My 40Mbps AVCHD High Reliability Patch is probably a better starting point for reducing GOP-length in 720p60 mode. If I find some free time, I'll see how short I can make it.
Yes, 60p has inherent advantages in capturing rapid movement with twice as many frames as 30p. If the GH1 had a 100Mbps Intra-frame encoder that recorded at 60fps, it would be the preferred choice for fast action videos.I thought the point of a "fast action" patch was to film fast action stuff. But I see you've limited the 720 in avhcd mode to only 30p.
Wouldn't 60p be a better choice for fast action?
The Fast Action 3-Frame GOP Patch is ideally suited for the GF1 and G2 cameras' hardware capabilities. The NTSC version of these cameras produces native 720p30 video streams in both AVCHD SH mode and in MJPEG HD mode. This patch boosts the peak bitrate of both video modes to over 50Mbps and in SH mode uses a remarkably short 3-frame GOP-size, recording 10 key frames per second. (This 3-frame GOP is used in PAL AVCHD SH mode as well, recording at 720p25.) Using such a high density of key frames enables the Fast Action 3-Frame GOP Patch to maintain excellent image quality while tracking rapid moving objects.
Fast Action 3-Frame GOP Patch v2
The Fast Action 3-Frame GOP Patch v2 is still compatible with the GH1 and the AVCHD modes work exactly the same as the original version of the patch. Version 2 works on both hackable and previously unhackable cameras and provides new options for MJPEG mode on all GF1, G2, and GH1 cameras.Is this FA GOP3 v2 patch also functioning for the GH1?
Or is the previous version for that camera still available?

Camera=GF1 v1.22 and G2 v1.1 - NTSC or PAL
Yes, I wanted to keep the help balloon simple, so I didn't mention the GH1. However, the patch still works fine with the GH1, though it's not the best choice any more since it doesn't support Native 24/25p recording.OK, thanks. The .ini file only lists the GF1 and G2 in the Camera description:
