I instantly thought of Run Lola Run when I saw this but still liked it. The music kept me in the moment and I did like the car scene. It changed it up for me because I thought the running and biking was a bit long. I liked the shakey cam work all the way around and I loved seeing a little bit of Italy. The boss guy was good with his calm swagger but I wasn't feeling the co-worker and who would leave papers all over the place if they did fall anyway.

this was craaaazy, the camera movements were almost too much at times but it DEFINITELY made you feel the urgency that this guy had in getting a freaking.. donut or whatever it was.

I thought the shot with that guy not being able to decide which way to go when walking as the bike was coming at him was great as well as a few other interactions with people getting mad at him on his bike made it more interesting and broke up the long journey he had to do.

I like the idea of only hiring someone for 5 minutes though, that was a good idea.

Also my fav shot was of the papers falling down the stairwell, that looked visually great.

I loved the setting. Love the look of how your shot it. I didn't really get the concept of the short term contract so it didnt really pay off for me, but the actors did a great job and I love the skill and care that was put into this... makes me want to come and shoot in those beautiful streets.
 
For some reasons, when I first opened your movie, it already jumped to 00:46. Not sure this is because of my PC or not. Anyway, your movie is nice. I like the DOF, CC and the lighting. The acting is good also. However, the inside the car scene is too dark. Some of the fighting between the bike riding guy and pedestrians seem a little bit awkward. Overall, your movie is very well made.

Yes, i downloaded from another pc and did the same thing. It is probably something from the quicktime compression. I hope everyone watched from start and not from this point.
 
This is one that I felt I was really in the scenes, nice job on that. I was watching on a big TV and I felt like I was running around, good depth and shot choices.

The skin tones were weird though, too pinky. color correct that shiznit!

This was another extremely well executed, small idea. It had a charlie kaufman vibe, with the weirdness of this company.

I thought the actors were really good and natural.

I think though, you could have used the 6 min better. Like We spent all this time one the one journey. When to me, you had the opportunity to give us the first journey, very detailed, in about a minute, maybe minute and a half, really packed with stuff.

Then you could have given us a second, more truncated. and a third more truncated still. I realize I'm talking about a different movie now, but I think you could have packed that first run up a LOT. Maybe still can, take a lot of the air out, a lot of the shots where nothing is really happening, and largely leave only the obstacles.

I think that would add greatly to the tension and suspense and apprehension, so that at the end, the payoff would pop a little better.

Right now, some of that flab in the run dissipates it for me.

But again, what I loved was that it was a truly 6 min film. A simple idea executed well. Nice work. Like our film is kind of too big an idea for a short. We had to really use every trick in the book, including V/O to get it across. But your idea is a real 6 min idea.

And God, you LIVE there? Nice.
 
Great music and superb camera work in the streets. LOVE the look of this. Man, the handheld shots following him on foot are awesome!!!
 
I really enjoy watching foreign films with subtitles. It's very interesting for me to see what it's like in places around the world.

The short-term contract joke was also lost on me, I didn't really get that part until I read the thread, although it started to dawn on me at the end of the film.

I thought that the color was great. It must be fabulous to have those beautiful streets as a backdrop. I too noticed the reversed P and wasn't sure if that was the way it is there or if you had reversed the shot. I don't know if would have been possible to reverse it back with compositing or not, might have been worth a try.

I thought the acting was superb, especially the bossman.

While the running scene did go on for a long time, I got more and more into it as it went along. I really liked the jumpy, high-shutter speed look. How did you get the shot of him coming up the stairs as he returns to the office? Did you speed it up in post? That was my favorite shot.

I really enjoyed this film, I'll keep my fingers crossed that it doesn't get overlooked. Can't wait to see your next film!
 
I enjoyed all the action shots in this film, nice work, I thought the 'dancing' in front of the bike was a bit tooo much, and the stealing of the bike...... well...... just can't trust anyone these days ;) :(
 
Absolutely gorgeous cinematography. I really really love it visually.

I don't think you accomplished the twist ending and here's why- the whole conflict between the main character and the man with paper happens offscreen and just breezes by. So I'm not invested in that plot piece when I watch it. Therefore it does not pay off in the end.

Another gripe... the subtitles have 2 misspellings. It takes me out of the movie when I see that.

Otherwise- very very good show.
 
Writing as I watch…
Ok, I’ll write ‘after’ I watched the film. It was definitely full of action which I dug. I think the camera work was making me sick for the most part. I can see parts of the running through the streets cut in half and you would still get the same frenetic effect. Just trimming 3-6 seconds here and there on some of the shots.

The English translation was fun. For the final film for festival entries, I would suggest finding someone to re-do the dialog translation.

As for the story, I think I get it, but it didn’t come across too clearly. The boss’s office was a little crammed for me.. Perhaps another location or a wider establishing shot would have been nicer. As of now, it looks like that guy is in a little cubicle giving orders that are completely unnecessary. I would have told that dude to go f himself. J

Congrats on entering the fest.
 
I enjoyed this! I'm not sure what was going on in why he had to go get the items or what they were. Still your style reminded me strongly of 'Run Lola Run' and I like that. Great effort!
 
Great camera work. I liked the shot looking up the stairs with the papers falling down. I think the Italian backdrop added a lot of the mise en scene without having to do much work! :)

I didn't quite get the story, but it felt like an experience. I felt like I got to walk around some town in Italy.

Good job.

We are into the eight shorts of the final selecetion of the Cortinpiazza (short-in-square) festival in Cremona, Italy... the 17 of july is the final day so let's see what happen. :)
 
So the other day we got our first "big screening" in Cremona. There where eight shorts, the level was high but i think our 5.00 managed to stay at level.
Overral an interesting night... at first i got the fear that the audio was messed up (the short projected before ours got an audio so low that we could not understand anything), but later our sound turned out very good and powerful; and it seems that people enjoyed it.

What wonderful photos! How I wish I could have been there. Beautiful setting to have your short screened at. Is this an annual festival?
