Reinstalled again, still happening. I'm using this guide (http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthrea...tool-hack-quot-GH17-Lenin-quot-(2011-cameras)).

Is it possible to turn down the max rate in ptool and leave all else untouched and expect the same reliability but with a capped write speed?

Hello, my experience with this patch is zero fails over six months using a Sandisk class 4 (four!) card. I just remember to format the card occasionally and got no problems at all.anyone?
PROBLEM
i have a brand new GH1, i tried this patch
i made a 5 second test in "smooth" film mode it was ok but i then tried "nostalgic" and it stopped after 3 seconds and i got a message like "film recording stoped because your card is too slow" ????" i have a "32mb lexar pro 133x" class 10 card !!! did i do something wrong or is this patch unreliable ? my serial is WE1BA001275 is my gh1 too new to be hacked ??
no problems here with the sandisk extreme 30mb/sec card. did you format the card in the camera??
also, read the section about how to hack your gh1-with video-to make sure you did it right. all gh1's can be hacked.
update : the problem came from the sd card : don't buy lexar
This is not fair of you to say.
I believe yesterday you would have argued: do not use the 40 Mbps Reliability Hack, because it doesn't work.
Today it's: don't buy Lexar.
This statement is based only on the fact that in your specific situation one card did not work.
Perhaps when you get a failure with your other card, or it will just crash, are you gonna promote not buying that mark as well?
That's not been my experience at all. When shooting 720p60 with the shutter at 1/30 s, indeed the effective frame rate drops in half, with each frame doubled. But the bit rate falls to somewhere between 1/2 and 2/3, and the picture looks every bit as good as with the shutter at 1/60 s.No, this is an inherent limitation of the camera itself. If you set the shutter speed to less than 1/50 sec in 720p50 mode (or less than 1/60 sec in 720p60) you are forcing the camera to open the shutter for a longer duration than your frame rate. As a result, the camera cuts its frame rate in half (down to 720p25 or 720p30) in order to maintain the slow shutter speed you have set. This also causes the bitrate to drop to very low values.
This has been my experience as well. SH mode shooting is much less reliable than FHD mode shooting for the same bit rate setting. In my testing I found that blackout-lpowell settings did not help reliability for SH mode compared to defaults using the same bit rate setting, and may even have made it a bit less reliable. I settled on 27 Mbps video and 29 Mbps overall as my bit rate setting for 720p. The video looks great, but it could be a bit better. While 1080p24fps has been working flawlessly, 720p60fps is not completely reliable for me with this patch. I even bought a Panasonic class 10 gold card hoping that I wouldn't get write errors, but I still get the same amount as my Patriot class 6 card. I did similar stress tests on both cards and I got errors at the same moments. A shutter of 1/125 with my Panny 20mm at f1.7 didn't freeze, but as soon as I stopped down to 2.5, both cards froze after about 10 seconds of wild whip pans. I thought moving from class 6 to class 10 would have at least improved performance by a little bit, but I was wrong apparently.
It's reliable enough to do 60p slow motion shots every once in awhile with care though. Since I shoot mostly 1080p24fps, it won't be a big problem for me.
