32gb Class 6 card

Ah, I see it sells for $135 on the Transcend online store and they've got 4/8GB 150x cards. Interesting how the 16GB Class 6 card is $44.30 on their store yet cheaper on Amazon. I imagine once online retailers start carrying the 32GB card, it'll probably be close to retail, but hopefully will drop like how the 16GB card can be had for under $30.

UNless you guys shoot long form non-stop, I fail to see how this 32GB is benefitial over getting 2 16GB.. cost wise, you can get 3 16GB for 1 32GB, and I don't think it is wise to put that many eggs into one basket. Plus, with 16GB, we're already talking about 2hrs of footage per card..

Well I shoot 99% of my clips on my 8gb cards but time lapses on a 16gb. I figure if I can get a 32gb I can get twice the time for a lapse and shoot it in PH mode as well

And the flip side of a larger card is longer transfer time to computer for editing or drive for storage/archive. The more you put on it the more time you spend taking it off.

but the transfer time would be the same regardless of whether you spread it across 2 16 or 1 32.. although flash media usually always performs slower the larger the card's capacity...

For what its worth, I seem to get almost the exact same file transfer time from my Patriot 32g Class 4 card as I do from my Transcend 16g Class 6 cards, regardless of which card reader I use, or if I transfer straight from the camera. I'm not sure why. I'd have no issue with buying another Patriot Class 4 card.

It's because the camera only requires 21-24Mbps (at most) data transfer and that easily falls within the Class 4 cap of 32Mbps. Class 4 and class 6 means nothing to the host (the cam).

The manual clearly states that only class 4 is needed for the highest bitrate (PH). I guess I don't understand why people are so concerned?

I believe he's referring to the time it takes to transfer the 16GB(Class 6) and 32GB(Class 4) of data off the card to his computer.
