10" 1024x600 monitor with battery and HDMI input for your upcoming GH2, $130 only

Mine has arrived this noon. However, I haven't tried it with my 60D or D3s yet since I don't have any HDMI cable here but it seems working nice. Took 3 days to arrive.

I have ordered the 10" monitor but it was shipped to a wrong address (shipped to Ontario, Canada instead of Alberta, Canada). It is very unfortunate as I really looking forward to try this monitor, before I think of either the Marshall 7" or the new Sony monitor. Currently I am working with them to either have another unit send to me or have partial refund. We will see how it goes. It is one of those weird situations, considering I have been doing lots of order via internat.

Btw, does anyone has the latest information on the new Sony monitor? I still could find it in our Canadian Sony website yet. Has it been available in the USA yet?

Dear slau
May I know YOUR EXPRESS DELIVERY TRACK NO., let me check with my Freight forwarder.

Hi Mr Chan,

The tracking number is RR931083044CN. I have no idea why the package was shipped to MISSISSAUGA, Ontario, Canada instead of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. In addition, the postal code between Mississauga and Calgary are dramatically different too. Thank you for your attention.

Stephen

Just discovered this thread and I've been trying to read up but there is so much info... I understand a new monitor is being made for filmers.

1)What is the status of that?
2)10' seems huge - what are the experiences size wise/weight wise?
3?And what about color reproduction and judging exposure? (Or is it just for framing/focusing?)

Are there any firmware upgrades. As I have the Canon 550d with Magic Lantern I can get it to work with liveview but as soon as I press record the camera freezes and I loose the signal to the monitor. Any help or advice would be welcome.

Where can I find one of these monitors? I too prefer the non glossy, but if thats all that available, then I will take one of those.

We will try to find non-glossy panels. But recently pls use glossy screen, because
Due to the Japen earthquake the material of LCD panels will be in shortage. The price for LCD panels will be rised in a short period of time and so does other raw materials because of the hoarding of domestic suppliers. . Our products will probably be rised recently but not now.
Thanks

I would pay more for a non-glossy screen.

Just tried it today. It's not working with Canon 60D. You can view the liveview but once you pressed REC you will lose the signal. The menu isn't working either. You can't event playback recorded videos using this monitor.

With Nikon D3s, once you pressed REC the frame rate on the monitor will be dropped to something like 13-16 fps.

I don't have the GH2 but I think this monitor might suite GH2 the most (but not for any other dSLR for sure).

I want a glossy pile of money with which to buy new toys, but I will settle for green of any texture..

Just tried plugging in my 550d into my 40" HD TV. Guess what it works. :furious3:So It must be the Leadstar 1088 that's the problem. Is there anyway to upgrade the firmware to make it work with the 550d?

I just got the 10.2" monitor that I had ordered. It arrived while I was away so I had to get DHL to redeliver. If I had been at home then it would have been delivered within 8 days of ordering which is excellent delivery time. It is the glossy panel as there were no non-glossy available to order. The quality is exceptional. The image is really sharp. I need to do a bit of tweaking with colour, brightness & contrast to get a good match with the GH2's LCD but for framing & focusing it great straight out the box. TBH it may be that it's a little too large but perhaps it's just that it looks enormous next to the tiny GH2. I hadn't taken notice of all the many features that this monitor has e.g. analogue TV tuner (useful for just the next two months until switchover to digital in my area:-) it also will play various video formats off a USB stick or SDHC card so could be useful for showing off videos too. The total price was $150 delivered plus I had to pay £12.43 customs duty & tax so the total price was about £105 which is just amazing value.

Got mine in the mail yesterday. Glossy display, English menu. These are my initial impressions when using it with a GH2.

Pros:
*Great resolution
*Super easy to get to work with GH2 (just plug it in & turn it on)
*10" is a perfect size for judging focus
*Fairly lightweight for its size
*Rechargeable battery built in + A/C adapter included
*Insanely inexpensive

Cons:
*There's only one threaded hole, and it's on the top of the back side, not on the bottom (my biggest complaint)
*Doesn't display underscan, so your edges are a tiny bit cut off
*Color isn't 100% accurate out of the box (but making adjustments in the menu helped a lot)
*Glossy screen could present problems with reflections when shooting in bright daylight
*Not particularly rugged plastic casing (i.e. don't drop it)

I have yet to see how long the internal battery lasts on a single charge, but you can always buy an external battery for it such as THIS ONE to add a few more hours of running time.

Overall, I'd say this 10" Leadstar HDMI monitor is extremely impressive for use with the GH2. It makes focus a breeze, is dead simple to set up, and it just plain works. The cons are incredibly minor compared to the pros listed above. I could easily see this monitor on sale for $300, and it would still be worth it. At only $138 shipped to the USA, it's an absolute steal. IMO, a must-own product for GH2 filmmakers. Thanks for posting this link, Vitaly!

PS- Don't forget to buy a mini-HDMI to regular HDMI cable to use it with the GH2!

Any idea when the non-glossy screens might be coming back?

I've noticed that the site shows a 9" unit now. Has anybody tried this one yet? What is the resolution?

Any more interest in making a dedicated camera monitor?
