Does anyone have any experience mixing HDV footage (specifically 24p from an HV40) and DVCPRO HD or Apple ProRes together in FCP 6? Does it work in the multiformat timeline?
I have an upcoming project that might make use of both formats. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
I've read the posts on the HVX200A vs HPX sharpness, but I do have a question regarding the HMC vs HPX for low light shooting situations. Since the HMC is higher res at 720 and it has a 1920x1080 codec, does that translate to it capturing more information in low light shooting situations, i.e...
A question for all you HMC150 owners out there. I spend a majority of my time shooting 30p on my DVX, am considering upgrading to the HMC, and noticed on B&H that it only shoots 720 30p over 60p. I wonder what the 720 30p looks like once recovered from 60. Do you conform from 60p to 30p in...
Thought I'd post this for interest sake- looks like it could be a new sensor for future Panasonic-cam:

I'm a video professional looking to upgrade from DV. Any idea when Panasonic will upgrade the HMC150, or even the HPX170/HVX200A? Where are we in the product cycle do you think? Any thoughts are appreciated.
Thanks!
I've captured 24p Advanced footage at 29.97 w/remove advanced pulldown checked. Now I'm attempting to edit in 23.98 sequences and FCP 5 is telling me the footage needs to be rendered.
**However**
When I play my footage in a 29.97 timeline, nothing needs to be rendered, and the clips are still...
The DVX book tells us that to transfer to film (if we're not using anamorphic adapter), we should shoot letterbox.
What are the pluses, minuses of shooting regular 4:3 and cropping vs. shooting in letterbox mode and cropping?
I have read in some places that you might have trouble separating...
Shooting a short for eventual HDCam or D5 transfer in 16:9.
Are there any advantages to running a firewire out to a Powerbook on set, besides saving time?
Specifically, I'm wondering if I am "saving" any resolution by bypassing the mini-DV tape...
Thanks,

My colleague and I were recently in El Salvador and Guatemala to film a doc, and were ultra-careful with our DVX except when climbing down a volcano, when one of us fell and incurred some sand in various places on the camera.
The camera works fine, but you can feel sand under the focus ring...
We're shooting a short on the DVX later in the summer, and we'd like to have easy playback capability through a Powerbook and FCP.
Does anyone know if you can record onto tape and simultaneously be capturing in FCP? It would be fantastic to be able to do this!
Thanks- much appreciated,
Jesse
