Just thought I'd give a quick review of the SoundDevices 688 recorder.
The 688 can record to either a CF or SD card .. and you can configure to fall over
to the second card if you so choose.
It has 6 mic pres .. and they are spectacularly quiet and transparent. Very accurate to the
sound...
Hi,
I have scoured the SD forum .. and couldn't find the answer to this question .. hopefully
you can help.
If one is using a SD 702T (timecode) with a C-LINK to a 722, do the BWF files
on the 722 have the timecode info in the header? (I think the answer is "yes" .. but
I'm not sure and the...
So .. you get to know how much people stand behind their gear when things go
wrong.
Our Sound Devices MixPre developed some noise in the channel ... called .. got an RMA .. shipped
it off to Wisconsin .. they fixed it .. sent it back .. it's perfect again .. total cost $0.
Our Tascam HD-P2...
Is pretty freaking cool! :-)
We're really happy with it. I will have to admit that a capacitor fried on one of our control units.. but Redrock
was quick to help us out with a replacement.
That said, it's very smooth and precise and if you operate a remote rig ( Jib or have a focus-puller on a...
We had a lot of fun working on this production .. Puppet High.
This episode was shot by my colleague Charome with our gear ..
A different dynamic working with puppeteers .. but a lot of fun!

A side note: running the Movieslate LTC line to the AF100 will sync it like a champ.

Hi,
I know it's still early in May, but is there an availability date for the firmware upgrade?
Also, are the terms per user/company or per camera? I assume this will be downloadable
and will not require a service center to install.
Further details would be appreciated.
Thanks
jeff
So, if we have more than one AF100 .. do we have to buy the upgrade for each camera? Or is
it per customer?
jeff
ps: I can't find diddly about the upgrade on the website.

LonG should make the news guys pretty happy.
Does this suggest new P2 based media? I'm not sure the current Type-II cards
can sustain a datarate necessary for 4:4:4 4K?
Interesting that the compression chips won't be...
Hi,
I would like to request that the pertinent meta-data be able to be set and edited on the AF100
rather than having to ingest via an SD card. I realize this is can be tedious (via the "joystick" and using
a virtual keyboard), but in the field, this would be invaluable.
Basically, all I...
Here's a spot we did for KSwiss on two AF100's ... I think it aired on
NBC Sports in the US.
Mix of Zeiss and Lumix lenses ...

Hi,
Do any of you know of a good / reasonable SD card recovery service? Have a
friend and the SD card is no longer recognized as a device. I know of services
where they extract the memory chip and insert it into new reader
electronics.
The costs vary wildly .. from $99 to over 1k.
If you...
Hi,
Got Barry's AF100 DVD(s) from Fiercely Independent Films.
There are two DVDs. The first goes through the menu settings and modes
of the camera. This is on-par with the information that is provided in the
AF100 book. However, it's good to see some of the settings in "video" mode
rather...
We recently shot some blacklight footage with the AF100 and the blacks were all
gray-ish. We did AWB and ABB several times and it didn't seem to help.
Very odd.
