SoundDevices 722 in CLINK mode

Hi,
I have scoured the SD forum .. and couldn't find the answer to this question .. hopefully
you can help.

If one is using a SD 702T (timecode) with a C-LINK to a 722, do the BWF files
on the 722 have the timecode info in the header? (I think the answer is "yes" .. but
I'm not sure and the manual only says that C-LINK carries the TC info).

Thanks
jeff

This is not the definitive answer but the TC can only be in the header. Files don't have continuous TC they only have a header tag.

So IF the TC is being received then it will end up in the header.

I would imagine there is probably a setting to jam the 722 TC using the C-LINK cable but maybe that is automatic?

Assuming the 702T is same as the 744, it should jam whenever external TC is present at the Lemo connector input in the 'Free Run Jam Once' mode and will continue to generate/run when unplugged. When re-connected, it will jam again. There are about ten other modes so select the mode that fits your workflow.. read the manual.

What is it Rick with you and manuals...;~)

If you are really allergic to paper the SD manuals are downloadable, or were last I looked.

Actually, I haven't looked at paper equipment manual in quite some time Scott.. all PDFs .. though I prefer to read paper periodicals (Mix, PAR, EM, TO, local newspapers and such, seated in my recliner.. away from computers/DAWs.. I am also about the only person in the freak'n world without a smartphone or tablet.. Wo is me
PS- On the plus side., AFAIK, I'm only allergic to alcoholic beverages, (and -formally- other mind altering substances) which altered my consciousness, made me act/talk funny, stumble around and sometimes just plain pass out.. as would be expected for any late 1960-70s rock player.

;~) I'm not a musician, but I did end up back stage with the Quicksilver Messenger Service at the polo field in 1967 and John Meyers sister used to baby sit us (his father worked with mine at USB).

Too bad about alcohol, I'm a home brewer and that would kind of put a crimp in it. Though I drink only a small part of what I brew so?

I'm guilty of tablets and phones, but I compensate by not owning a TV ;~)

I vastly prefer, decent, printed manuals. It's hard to write notes and corrections on electronic ones. But then the quality of manuals has dropped a Lot.

In this particular case, I'm planning to run a 702T C-linked to a 722. From the manual, it states that the 722 does not read the TC on the Lemo. However, it's
somewhat ambiguous whether it does on the CLINK.

I've posed this to SoundDevices, will report back once I get an answer.

AFAIK, the 722 does not have the TC option, so it would not be able to read/jam or generate. It likely would place a TOD stamp on a BWF file though

Got a response from SoundDevices:
Hi Jeff,

The files generated by the 722 will not contain the TC information, but the files will share sample accurate start and stop times with the 702T files.
So you should be able to take the timecode from the 702T to file to sync with the video and then you can just line up the
722 files with the 702T files and everything should match up.
