I'm shooting a timelapse of someone getting a tattoo with a 7d, 24-70 2.8, and intervelometer. It will be a tattoo on someones chest - supposed to take 5 hours as it's a detailed picture of a face.
I was hoping to get some input on the number of stills and the shutter speed I should use.

So I've shot greenscreen footage in HD 1080 30p with my Cannon xh-a1....
I need to key the footage (in after effects), then downconvert to Standard Def....
--I'm assuming it's best to Key in HD, and then downconvert right?
--what's the best way to downconvert? -- I usually bring HD footage...
I edit on a G5...the main HD that it runs of has 500GB...it also has an extra 500 GB HD in the main computer...plus I have 3 externals -- 2 500GB and 1 terra HD. The terra connects via USB (doesn't have firewire connection). I was hoping for some tips on how to get the best performance...
I am not getting any sound when I set my Audio setting to manual. I am trying to use a wireless lapelle mic through XLR channel 1. It works fine when on Automatic, but I need to record on manual. It is doing the same thing with the on-board mic -- good on Automatic, nothing on Manual.
I just got my a1 about a month ago...I went out and shot some test footage for a music video with my merlin and decided to edit it. It was my first outing with both the camera and merlin...I'll have a full rez version up eventually.

I printed a quicktime file to both SD and HD and then burned in DVD Studio Pro in SD and HD. Both of the DVDs play in my computer (imac), but in a few SD DVD players I tried them in, neither one plays. Does HDV have to have to be burned on an HD DVD, or played in an HD DVD player? And why...
First of all I use FCP 5.1.4 (Final cut Studio)
I shot footage in 1080i at both 24f and 60i....
when I log and capture my 24f footage it is all jumpy (stop and go)
I can capture my 60i footage though
what settings do I need to capture at 24f?
I read the handful of threads on tape stock already, but still had a few Q's.
1). Do you have to use HDV tapes with the a1 to shoot HDV...I saw some threads where people said they don't.
2). can you re-record over a tape and not lose image quality?
3). there's no way I'm paying 24 bucks for...
somebody told me you should always use the same brand of tapes as your camera...should I only be using cannon tapes with my a1, or is it ok to run a different kind?
If I buy the Brevis (or another non flipped image adapter) can I just buy an LCD and turn it upside down, or better yet...mount it upside-down on the HVX?
What's a good HD LCD for the HVX?...Marshall seems to be popular..keep in mind that I'm ****in broke.
I had finally talked myself into getting the XH-a1. Deep down I liked the look of the Panasonic HVX200 better, but had talked myself into wanting an a-1 because it was 2300 bucks cheaper. But after talking to 2 DPs on a film I am currently P.A.ing on I have realized that I should have gone...
1.)are the prime lenses that go with the 35mm adapters the same lenses used on SLRs?
2.)what are the minimum fstops I need for wide,50mm, and telephoto? (1.4?/2?)
3.)where should I get them?...ebay ok?
4.)what are the best lenses to go with xh-a1 and brevis35?
1.) I just saw some amazing undercranked(fast-motion) footage on the HVX200. Can you do the same with the XH-a1?
2.) Does anyone know if the Brevis35 works well with the a-1?
I'm choosing between buying the XL2 and A1 and I have some questions about the A1...
1. What's the difference between 24P and 24F?
2. Can you shoot in SD or only HDV?
3. Can you change lenses...I saw that they have a wide angle converter--is that just an adapter that gives the effect of wide...
I am about to get an XL2...I've always had problems with the stock lense...should I not even buy it and just get the 16X lense and 3X lense...or do I need the 20X for medium range shooting?
