As some of you know I am developing and configuring a Controller Board that will give us Quad SDI and Trigger REC for the F35, but I need to carry one last experiment. I would need to borrow a CAF101 and Optical Connection for a quick test. If I can't borrow, I would like to know if someone...
Folks, feel free to post grabs or videos of work you have done with the F35. PLEASE: keep it to more completed projects, than just camera tests here.
Trying to organize there by year of submission to the forum. Doesn't matter when you shot it, but at least it will keep everything together for...
I know we all talk about dynamic range... I went ahead and shot a white poly and went from pure white down the scale... 15 stops.
Download below. Shot on slog sgamut 450 'base' iso.
If we don't count black and pure white, we do have detail in 14 stops where detail can be recovered from them...
So a while back I did some tests and I received questions here and on my Vimeo about sharpness. The shots had different level of detail but it was a focusing issue. I have done a very simple test to clear this issue out. Soundtrack from Se7en. Coz otherwise I’d fall asleep looking at these...
Shot this in 2018.
Had some fun with some talented kids.
Had a little less fun carrying the F35... but heck. It's always worth it. I have now a much lighter shoulder setup and battery option for shooting in 422 that I will share with you guys on another post.
ProRes 10bit 442 on BM Video Assist.
I am looking for a top plate to which the handle (I have) attaches. Sony has them in Japan, and they are $160... but take about 4 weeks to arrive. So I thought maybe someone here has a spare one they want to sell. Does anyone have one?
Had a funny exchange with a great (young) DP who rented my camera. Found a hot pixel. Asked him if he had done a Black Balance. He said he did during camera prep before the shoot. I told him, better to do it a few minutes after you start the camera every day you shoot.
Here is his response...
I feel like my PL mount needs to be adjusted for infinity and I am looking for steps on how to perform this.
What lens to use? I have primes.
Best way to go about it?
Any help would be really appreciated.
Well, I think it is... still experimenting.
I have 2 options:
1. Drill the IFBOX on the 'clean' left side and insert the three SDI outs out of the Multiplexer - That would give me 2x3G SDI outs and 1 HD SDI out. I would also leave the original 2 HDSDI outs intact. BUT, I think I would have to...
I keep buying glass that doesn't fit. I am trying to build a list so that we can help each other.
Please list the lenses you are using or tested and compatibility results.
Thanks,
Rick
So far I can confirm these work:
Sony SCL Primes 35, 50, 85 T2
Xeen 24mm T1.5
From Iron Glass adapters...
So I got hold of 3 units and they all come with all the boards. I have 2 F35 and that way I will keep another one for parts.
First impression is that this is an amazingly built unit. Just sits right into the F35. Whole thing feels like a ‘real’ camera. Great not to have bunch of sdi wires...
I discovered this in the manual.
Check the footage.
I was surprised that the ISO800 HG8 has less noise in the blacks, and more DR in general. Footage grossly overexposed for the purpose of this test. HG8 goes up to IRE 109, slog clips at IRE 104...
What do you guys think...
Which one is which?
Both have the same node applied in Resolve using ProRes 442 10 bit vs 444 12 bit recorded in Video Devices PIX E5 through AJA 3GM Multiplexer.

Just wanted to share some stills. Project still in the editing room. It's a teaser for pitching a feature about a dancer who develops MS. 6 light setups in 4 hours. Madness but the F35 was solid.

I have been trying to get the best results using all the LUT's I've found in the forum and I haven't been completely satisfied. So I created 3 new ones and would love to hear your feedback.
Shot on CineEI mode with a meter for exposure.
Here is how they were created:

Hello,
I am prepping for a short film and I did some F35 testing at different apertures to see the way the sensor was responding.
Key is window light - f4
Fill is from lamp backlight. f2
Noise is acceptable 1 stop under in the blacks and shadows IMO... at f8 the noise gets distracting but...
