Two new threads for me in a day. A little much? I'd say so. None the less, a question for the masses here. I know most of us post our footage as Quicktime or as WMV, so here is my question. Why not encode as Flash or Shockwave files? I was just playing around the found this video to flash...

I'm shooting a project in two weeks and it has an extensive torture scene. I've gone through and shot listed and storyboarded the heck out of this scene, but wanted to go rent some films and see what other people have done with similar scenes. What's the problem then? I am drawing an almost...

Hey sports fans. This is something that I debate with myself a lot. If you could pick any sport and be commissioner for a day, what would you do? For me it is most likely no surprise that I choose baseball. I would get rid of interleague play to increase the rivalry between the AL & NL...

So I have been buying a lot of lenses on Ebay and have built quite a collection. On my Nikon and Nikkor lenses the blades on the lens open and close based upon the Fstop I set it to. On my Canon lenses, which I have 2 50mm FD1:1.4, when I adjust the Fstop the blades don't move at all...

OK, it is no secret, I think that Rob Zombie is brilliant. While his freshman effort had too much money and they went too far overboard, he is one of the few filmmakers that I think made a sophomore film that exceeded the work of most seasoned filmmakers. I'm under the impression that Rob...

Over the past year or so I know that I have gotten emails and PMs from people asking my advice (why they would ask my advice when there are professionals on this site makes no sense to me) on first purchases for audio. As is the case with filmmakers money is always a concern and issue that...

Warehouse Location - Advice Requested Hello all. Most of the regulars here know me, but now I have a question that hopefully ya'll can help me with. For an upcoming short film I have just secured my location, a warehouse type location off the side of a theatre. It is a massive space 60' x...

---Herpie Cinema--- Don't be confused by the title. We have all seen herpie films, you know, the movies that you watch, whether on the big screen or at home, and they leave an impression on you that you can't shake for a while... You know, Herpie Cinema. So what are everyone's favorite or...

OK, everyone's got them and they are more entertaining to discuss rather than discuss every random thought that comes through someone's mind... Some of mine humiliating confessions: 1. I watch Friends everytime a rerun airs on television, but have never seen a new episode air 2. I like watching...

I've been editing on Vegas for a while, but since I work for a university I have an opportunity to get a G5 mac for a really low amount ($200) [EDIT: after reading my post that makes no sense... I have a coworker who used to work for another university and their computer lab upgrades their...

After looking through the Photoshop Glamour thread and following what is going on there, I was wondering if a group of Vegas users would like to do something similar with Vegas and color correction. Essentially we could all work on a similar 5 second (to keep file size down) clip and share...

Front runner and across the board picked to win it all Team USA has been eliminated from the World Baseball Classic. Wow, who woulda thunk'd it?

Look, I don't have children so I can only imagine what you parents go through, but tonight I was laying out on the couch and my little dog who means the world to me started vomitting like crazy. I've never seen so much stuff come out of a dog. He lost bladder control, urinating all over the...

Best Sports Movies I work with two movie buffs who are always walking through the office with questions like, "What is the best sword fighter movie" and when you answer 'Hero' they yell "Wrong! It's Conan the Barbarian". Flash forward to today and they actually had a really great question...

I don't know if anyone else watched the Pool A (the Japan/Korea game was incredible) but now I'm really excited about this. The Domincan / Venezuela game was the most exciting game I have ever seen from a fan point of view (the crowd was going crazy over every pitch) and right now the US vs...

WTB Vest Based Camera Stabilizer I am looking to purchase a vest based camera stabilizer system, in particular something along the lines of a Glidecam Smooth Shooter, Varizoom Navigator, Steadicam Mini, or Magiqcam. If you have one that you are looking to sell PM me or email me at...

So I was thinking, if all movies took a cue from 'Snakes on a Plane' then it would be a lot easier to know what you're about to see. Under Seige = Terrorists on a Boat Titanic = Love on a Boat Die Hard = Terrorists in a Building Die Hard 2 = Terrorists in an Airport Die Hard w/ A Vengence =...

Tonight a couple of friends and I were discussing what is the best all out action film :kali: The requirements were as little plot as possible and as much enjoyable action as possible... The best we could come up with was Robocop. Any other ideas?

I've been around this audio forum for a while as a poster and a lot longer as a lurker, so here are the top 10 things I have learned: 1. Hyper cardiod microphone for interiors and shotgun for exteriors. If you stick to this you will know more than most people who post microphone buying...
