Canon FD Lens Question

So I have been buying a lot of lenses on Ebay and have built quite a collection. On my Nikon and Nikkor lenses the blades on the lens open and close based upon the Fstop I set it to. On my Canon lenses, which I have 2 50mm FD1:1.4, when I adjust the Fstop the blades don't move at all. Actually on one it sometimes moves and closes more. This is me openning and closing the iris from 1.4 to 22. Is there something I'm missing or overlooking when dealing with Canon FD lenses? Oh, I'm using these with a Letus35 Flip, but should be standard for anything. (I wanted to make sure that I offer as much information as possible).

Thanks!

Most FD lenses only change their aperture when the lever on the mount side of the lens is moved. This is typically done by the camera when it takes a picture, or when you use DOF preview. The FD mount would need to push this lever or you need to jam something in there to keep it in place) I think this is one of the reasons many prefer Nikon lenses for DOF adapters.

My FD lenses act the same way on my still camera. When I engage my DOF Preview, it stops the lens down, but I've never payed attention to the blades. I'll have to check it out tonight.
