So I was using various Zacuto baseplates with the Canon 15.5-47 lens, along with a couple different Zacuto lens support systems I have, including the Zacuto Canon quick release lens support which I like since it is quick to change lenses.
Then I just got the Wooden Camera Unified Baseplate for...
I was working with the Zacuto VCT C300 Mark II setup, and it seemed to me the rig would be more stable if I had a second handle for my left hand to help stabilize it. Any suggestions? Maybe something like this: http://www.adorama.com/zczlshkv3s.html
It's discontinued on B&H and I think on...
Quick question. Can you use HDMI and SDI at the same time on the C300 Mark I and Mark II?
On the Mark II there is a clean feed SDI and a monitor SDI. Is the HMDI feed clean or with display info?
I've been mainly using SDI but looking at using the cameras with a Paralinx Ace HDMI.
What's a good on-camera mic for the C300 Mark II so I can plug into the mini-mic port so as to keep the two XLR's open for wireless or other mics?
I have a Rode Videomic Pro, but I'm wanting something that would fit in the mic mount on the C300 Mark II.
Looking around...I'm thinking maybe the...
So the rumored C500 Mark II/C700, which is said to be a shoulder mounted unit to compete with the Amira, priced around $30k, what do you suppose the selling point of it will be?
Here are some primary selling points of other competing cameras as I see them...
Amira has Arri colors and dynamic...
I'm looking for a small and light weight baseplate for the C300 that has rods that can go out the front and back of it. Primarily for Steadicam use.
Right now I own the Zacuto Gorilla Baseplate which the rods only go out the front. Small, lightweight, and works well, when you don't need rods...
Some people have complained about not being able to turn off the internal mic on channel 3 & 4 on the C300 Mark II. I found a work around, which is simply plugging a 1/8" mic (such as a Rode Videomic Pro) into the 1/8" mic port, which goes to channels 3 and 4, and then turn the mic off. Tracks...
Here is a recent video I produced and filmed with the Canon C300 Mark II in 4K as a one-man-band. It was filmed in Virginia and a few locations in different parts of Ohio.
Behind-the-scenes photos can be seen here...
Star Wars short film for a Star Wars film competition. I was the co-DP and Steadicam operator for the shoot. We used the C300 Mark II on my Steadicam Zephyr, along with a C300 Mark I, A7S II (on a Movi, and for some other shots), and a DJI Phantom 4.
Behind-the-scenes photos can be seen...
So I stopped by B&H in NY a few days ago and got to play around with the Varicam LT for about 15 minutes. The B&H guy there didn't seem to know the camera too well, so I was on my own to figure out some basics in a short time. Perhaps those with more experience with the camera can clarify some...
Money aside, what would you say is the best documentary camera?
Arri Amira, F55, Red, Varicam LT, C300 Mark II, C100 Mark II, FS7, A7s II, A7r II, GH4, 1DX Mark II, etc.?
Wide DR (Main settings -> Gamma: Wide DR, Color Space: DCI-P3 Gamut, Color Matrix: Video).
Here's an ungraded shot.

Here is a video I filmed of my home city, Tampa, Florida, with the Canon C300 Mark II in 4K.
Equipment used:

Steadicam Zephyr
Cinevate Duzi slider
Hollywood Microdolly 13 ft dolly
Vinten Vision Blue tripod head w/Gtizo sticks
What IRE are you exposing Caucasian skin tones with Canon-Log 2? I heard one person mention 47-50 IRE. I typically aim for the highlights of one's skin to be at 70 IRE when not shooting log.
On the C100 you can press the Index button and it plays back the last clip without having to go into media mode. On the C300 Mark II when you press the Index button, it doesn't play back the last clip.
Is there a way to set it up to play the last clip on the C300 Mark II without going into...
I'm starting to think about buying some sharp primes, as most of my lenses are zooms. I like images sharp. Right now I've got a few Canon L zooms, the Sigma 18-35, Tokina 11-20, and a few old Nikkor primes.
What should I get?
Here are some options I'm considering...
Canon L-series primes...
Right now I've got a 3-4 year old laptop with the following specs...
MSI GT70
NVIDIA Geforce GTX 775M / 4GB GDDR5
16 GB DDRIII RAM
256 GB SSD
750 GB HDD
17.3" 1920 x 1080 Screen
Works fine for editing 1080. Playback on 4k C300 Mark II footage is choppy in both VLC and Premiere. I've heard...
I'm trying to figure out the jib situation for my C300 Mark II. I've got the Kessler Jib Pocket Traveler right now, which works pretty well with the C100 Mark II which is about 6-7 lbs with my setup, and with the 701 head I use on the jib, that puts it at 8-9 lbs. The jib is rated for up to 10...
What are your thoughts on the new soft version of the Litepanel Astra?
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1219777-REG/litepanels_935_5001_astra_1x1_soft_bi_color.html
I have two of the original Astras and was thinking to buy a couple Area 48 LEDs to go with them so I'd have some softer LED...
