Tonight I shot a clip about 24 minutes long... this was NOT spanned (the MTS file was 3.41 GB). About 20 minutes into the clip, I start getting ever-changing artifacts like this:
Seems to play back OK in the camera. Re-transferring to FCP yields exactly the same result. Anyone see anything...
(Sorry for all the conflicting moods of messages. I've been testing pretty intensively, and am posting all my results as they happen. )
So I shot 20 clips today, ranging from 10 seconds to 40 minutes, in HA, and PH 1080p30 and 24. Slow shutter, regular shutter, DRS on and off where possible...
OK, so I filmed a concert last night - 1st half in 1080/30p PH mode, 2nd half in HG mode.
As soon as the card came out of the camera, as always, I write-protected it.
Today, the card won't mount on the Mac, and occasionally mounts in a flaky way on the PC laptop (e.g., sometimes disappears...
Greetings! I'm trying to collect evidence on the current viability of the HMC150 for shooting long clips (> 30 minutes). So far, all evidence points to the fact that now workflow for this is currently functional. Please explain your successes or failures with long clips in as much detail as...
Sorry folks, I'd really try it myself but don't have a handy Windows setup.
Please, can anyone confirm that the MainConcept transcoder properly handles PH mode (especially 30p) clips? And does it properly handle clips of > 1 hour?
The MainConcept docs say "Please control the data size under...
Greetings! I'm wondering if any DVXUsers have experience with iSCSI storage in a shared production environment.
I'm setting up some studios for collaborative work, primarily in music, and iSCSI looks like the best way to go (since most music production software doesn't like network storage)...
I'm just wondering if anyone can confirm:
1) The MainConcept transcoder supplied by Panasonic works well, with all modes of footage, and framerates? No problems as we see with PH modes / framerates in other software?
2) Can anyone confirm whether this transcoder will work under any of the...
Frequency Distribution Graph / Histogram - does anyone fully understand this?
Certainly, I have the general intuition, and indeed in many situations find it useful for focusing. But I'm not sure what exactly it represents, and how to use it in selective-focus situations.
What are the axes of...
Well, I finally got my hands on the camera today, and I must say that I'm impressed with the 6mbps mode - much better than I thought. I tested 6mbps with 1/30 shutter, and found very few artifacts, even with a fair amount of camera motion! The 1/30th shutter, in addition to any encoding...
So, I'm waiting a while now for my camera to ship, and I pinged the dealer and got the following:
"There was a delay (not sure if you heard) for some compatibility issues with the format and a few NLE's systems, however I'm told this batch has the issue corrected with firmware update, so you...
OK, what's the deal? How come no-one's managed to post any 6 mbps footage? Some people have said they would... and that's the last we hear of them. Lew's footage request thread is lively and active... and I request 6 mbps footage, and the thread dies!
I sense a conspiracy.
A pact? "You guys...
Another cello video from Tom Flaherty!
(Sorry YouTube haters, but) It's unfortunately split into two parts due to YouTube time limits...
Anyway, this piece is a Tro for Cello and Digital Processor. The idea is simple, but the execution is brilliant. Tom basically uses two delays - one set...
