On the last doco I worked on we used the hvx200 and the gh1, but matching the footage wasn't as easy as I would have liked. Particularly the way the hvx would render black fabrics as orange if they were reflecting too much UV or IR (not sure which). I'm going to be shooting another doco soon...
Such a shame that leica switched over to cmos at the same time as introducing video mode....
the video here shows a small amount of footage that looks like it suffers really badly from rolling shutter
If only they kept the ccd!!!
Ikonoskop have finally announced the black and white camera they promised for "next year" in 2010. I have to say I'm pretty excited to get some more info on this and see some more footage.

I know focal plane shutters will burn out after a certain amount of use for animation, is the also true of lens leaf shutters?
I'm also wondering how they would compare as far as consistency goes. I've heard that 1/125th is a good speed to use when animating with a DSLR as it will possibly give...
Hey,
I was wondering if you guys can help me find a camera to fit a particular need.
I want to get a camera to do animation tests as I learn the art of animation, I know I can stitch a whole bunch of stills together and achieve great quality, but I'd prefer a quick and dirty method like the...
I'm looking at the foxfury nomad, which is an LED work light with a brightness of 4000 lumens.
My question is: How bright is that?
Lights designed for film use always give the brightness in lumens or foot candles matched to a distance in feet or meters away from the light.
this makes it pretty...
Sorry if this has been asked already,
I'm just wondering if the new HBR modes output different signals via hdmi
I'm hoping the 25p mode will output the same as it records, 25p sensor output in a 50i wrapper.
just wondering what equipment is out there that can pull this off. I'm thinking that the quality of the recorder doesn't have to be very high (read expensive) if using a good mixer like 302, but to get the most out of the combo, a balanced line level connection would be desirable.
i know the...
I'm just thinking, since the F3 is part of the same XDCam EX line, maybe we will see an updated EX-3 with some of the new features...
In particular i'm thinking about the dual SDI option for 4:4:4 and s-log
to me the idea of 4:4:4 from a 3 chip camera seems like a good idea.
Any details on how the af100 processes its images? specifically what it does to help moire and whatnot, i know it doesn't really matter for your images as long as they look good but all the same, i like looking at diagrams and stuff.
i was just wondering if someone could shed a little light on this matter for me.
so i've heard people complain about single chip cameras before, because the bayer filter lowers the effective resolution. I'm wondering if taking out a 1080 signal from the high rez sensor on the af100 will have an...
I'm just wondering if LED lighting is suitable for shooting 16mm colour neg or reversal.
I've heard that electronic lights like LEDs have spikes in the red green and blue, this is apparently a problem when shooting on film, but i've also heard the opposite. anybody know for real?
also,
are...

looks like sony can start competing in the same price range as everyone else after the first couple of years of the D1 paid off all the R 'n' D. i wonder how much the quality suffers amongst all the cut backs...
anyone seen this?

looks pretty cool, but i'm not too sure about the omni mics.
