Hey Simon,

Really enjoyed the film. First Zombie I have seen in a while that had some original attributes. Not just knuckle-dragging idiots.

Agree the VO is more of a distraction. The film wouldn't miss it.

Super location. One could easily film an entire feature there and not lose interest.

I would have likes to have seen a nice longshot of the horse. So far I have seen two films with horses, and neither really took advantage of having such a beautiful beast available.

Nice fight scenes. I think you burned up some valuable seconds with your characters curiosity and apprehension after the first kill, just standing over the body - nothing was really accomplished.

The flip off the bridge was great. The following ase to the head was just a little too staged for me, but the overall scene was quite remarkable.

The folowing scene was odd. No wounds, and the girl seemed disconnected somehow, like there was more interest on her face than on her reaction.

and, I really didn't get what her purpose was.

Opening scene with all the dark colors - including a black horse needed some kind of color to contrast or bring certain features out. I thought so much dark flattened the whole scene out, almost 2 dimenional.

Overall this was a really great and ambitious film. Numerous stars!

Hi Simon,

This was a very impressiv work. You changed your style of filmmaking for 360°. You jumped on the action boat. All these stunts are great and the special effects too. This location is fantastic. I loved the whole work from the photography side and the score was perfect. The acting was enjoyable. Your dialog part was a little bit unfortunately, but only a minor detail. I adore the girl at the end. She has a very interesting face!
The story worked very well, but I had the sensation that your film was a little bit a puzzle of elements from different other films I saw before! All together a big affort with a great result, but I prefer your style from the TimeFest - it was simple more a individual style!

Susanne
Hey Susanne! Thanks for your review! I guess you meant 180° :D Yes, I did! But I think I didn't use puzzle elements from other films. I had no other films in mind actually. And the good thing about filmmaking is, you can change for every film.
Simon!

Thanks Ingo! Wrote you an email.

Yeah, but you would probably get burried in a collapsing building. Not that save anymore :(

I would have likes to have seen a nice longshot of the horse. So far I have seen two films with horses, and neither really took advantage of having such a beautiful beast available.

Shooting with a horse is really complicated. So hard to control their movement. Very few takes turned out well.

I should have added some blood effects here, but it got lost.

Wasn't happy with those scenes either. I have to work on the CC.

Thank you very much for your detailed input Alex! Lot's to think about. :)

Hey Simon, I really enjoyed this one! Great SFX! The only thing I didn't understand was, I thought the guy shot you in the head before you fell? I have to watch it again. But great stunt there man. And the Vampires looked great. How did you do that by the way? I'd really love to know. On the con side, I have to agree that the VO was probably not necessary, even though it was Luis' silky smooth voice.

cheers,

Jon

Simon:

This film struck me as a very ambitious undertaking. Lots of action and special effects.

I particularly noticed the sound effects. "Squish!" when he slices off the leg. Nice! And right where she jams the axe into his head on the bridge. She seems to come to a complete (and unlikely) stop from a high-speed run when she hits him though. I agree that the VO was probably superfluous.

Enjoyed it very much.

Hi Simon. I really like the look you had going together with the location. Stunts were cool ( I saw your gymnastics practice video. Sheesh.) and you're a VFX guy too? Anything you can't do? hehe.

The VFX were really well done. There was one shot where the tracking drifted at the last second (you should have shortened that bit up I'd say) but otherwise they rocked.

The story was alright but it could have had a better ending. The VO you didn't need. Nothing to do with the voice, just didn't feel needed.

Acting was not bad.

I'm looking forward to the next one, just watch out for the story ending though. I know it's easy to overlook what with everything else you have to do to get a short done on time, but it's so important to tie everything up in a meaningful way, to me anyways.

A big congrats to everyone.

Thanks man!
Actually the shot was in the shoulder.

About the Vampire look and VFX I am going to talk sometime later.

Haha, I try my best!

Yeah, the damn tracking. Actually have to fix quite a few things, but I ran out of time. The VFX took forever. So much to do.

Thanks you very much! Good story is always the hard part, but this time around it was not my biggest concern.

Simon, I added a tag to your page. :D
Badass

Very nice. Good to get some action and blood going in this fest. Great FX, nice location, engaging actors, cool stunts. It's an ambitious undertaking and it turned out well. Kudos to you and your team on a well made brass tacks action/horror flick. Great job!

Wow simon. I just stumbled upon this short and I have to say I'm really impressed. The action was very well directed and your fx work was really good too. I thought you had a very ambitious idea and for the most part actually managed to pull it off.

It was a really enjoyable little short! I could nit pick technically but this shows huge potential in the way it was shot, the beats, the edit, very nice.

Herman's score is outstanding and really adds to this piece.

I like a director who doesn't mind throwing himself around a bit in the name of art ;-) well done.

This was one of the first ones I watched and you delivered the goods!

I was constantly saying, "Cool... awesome...etc" The look of it was great. Lots of nice shots, and of course as everyone has been saying, the FX and stunts were rockin', and the best of the fest IMO.

The only thing I didn't get was why they had to get to the bridge? Was this some magical bridge or something?

Music and sound was excellent, as expected.

Great job. Very entertaining!

very well done, production wise, lot of good camera work imo. just thought the story was not quite understandable (just my brain perhaps).

Simon... I'm not sure I got it, but I dug the look of the film. :) Definitely in the pile to watch again.

Then again, "No Air" was 'out there' too

congrats on entering the fest.
/j

Lots of cool things going on here. Loved the stunts, the special effects, the sound. Very entertaining all the way through. The pace lagged a little near the end as he messes with the angle and the other guy climbs the bridge, but this is a minor nit pick. I think the story lacked a little bit in strength- all fairly ambiguous. However, you made up for it in gore, fighting and fun.

Thanks for sharing your movie with us.

JC

Hey Simon, you really came out hitting hard this time! Incredible stunts, special effects and action. I also really liked your cinematography - how did you get that funky colour grading? - and your editing too, it all came together for a really slick bit of action. Just to nitpick, your own roll when you fall at the top of the slope before the bridge looked much too polished - it looked to me like a practice judo roll in the gym. But you made up for it moments later with your fall from the bridge.
Of course, there wasn't much story. No problem, but next time try to combine the originality of No Air with the SFX, action and polish of this and you'll blow everyone out of the water.
Jason

Very good film, different than all the rest as far as story goes and some really great stunts and special effects. I loved the fight scenes and the movie as a whole. Great Job!
