Questions re: Red

I have a few questions with regard to the very impressive looking Red camera.
1) How much time can you record at Super 35 resolution on one card?
2) Can you record to a b/u tape either at time of shooting or during transfer from card to drive?
3) Is this system (or media files) compatible with AVID?
Thank you.

1) Don't know. Sizes and compression ratios arn't finalized. Looking like around 30-60mins (total ballpark) to onboard flash memory. few hours to onboard Raid Hard Drive
2) Yes. The camera has HD-SDI, both regular and Dual-Link outputs. You can use any deck/recorder that will take those inputs. There may be other output options too.
3) REDcine can convert the raw camera files to prety much any codec. So yes it will work with Avid.

1) 4k, 4096x2304 is around 27MB/s with REDCODE RAW. On the 360GB RAID REDDRIVE, that gives 222 minutes, or 3.7 hours.

2) Record out the HD-SDI, to tape, say HDCAM SR, but it won't be at 4k resolution.

3) REDCINE converts from REDCODE files to practically anything.

Graeme,

I'm no anagrammist, but I'm pretty sure your name can be rearranged to spell "team greatness"... well, close enough.
I think that's quite ironic considering your circumstances.
