"Sleeper" by Matt Sconce and Mark Aro

Wowza, with the production value that's gone into this one, it should be flat out amazing. This fest has several that are looking like they could be stand outs, but this one is certainly at the head of the pack from at least the pre-visualizations of the actual film.

WOW! Thanks a lot NORM that was very kind of you to say. We are definitely feeling it, that is for sure. We are a bit down because we did a lot of cutting at lunch today, but it will make it into the long version.

Happy Anniversary! I just recently celebrated my 16th!:)

Thanks, and you've got seniority over me! Click on that poll I've got a link to in my sig, so you can be the first to be in the 15-20 year catagory, lol!

I'd look forward to seeing BOTH cuts of your film.

Thanks Norm! Despite having left a lot on the cutting room floor for our spyfest cut, we are excited with what we have left. The cool thing is, if you like Sleeper at Spyfest....you wil LOVE Sleeper in its full cut after the fest. There are some really cool parts that will be back in. It is always hard to cut a 10 minute movie down to a 6 minute movie and have it not feel rushed, but I think we are pulling it off.

My wifey and I are celebrating our 4 year anniversary on May 31st!!! Guess what I am giving her!?? Sleeper, of course! Well, I am actually kidding, seeing as how she would probably assassinate me if that was all I did.:crybaby: Haha! She is one rocking gal!

I am excited you are excited to watch this. I hope many people feel that way!

LOL, I'm imagining the 'sleeper hold' after you said what you were giving your wife ... something tells me, if you tried to pull a move like that on her, she'd have some martial arts surprises for you! :)

Yep...I would be "Surprised" Alright...in the very
painful sense of the word...:nads:

Mark and I will be getting our composer the timed cut for Spyfest on Thursday.

Well, I've said before, but I'll say it again...I am very much looking forward to this film. If nothing else the enthusiasm to the project expressed by the two of you here in the thread excites me and makes me want to watch the film. THen you add the quality previs and grabs, just adds to the excitement

Now get back to work on that VFX

I am glad you are stoked to see this Larry! I think as we delve into the VFX more and more...we may vanish in a world of rotoscoping Hades......

Well we were joking about scrapping this and submitting a short with a guy looking in the mirror and trying to convince himself that he is JAMES BOND.... for 6 minutes straight. The sad thing is... we are so tired that this seemed very funny!

But alas... our MUSE... SLEEPER awaits! Wish us luck!!! I am currently wrapping the 15th episode of a web-based educational cartoon for kids (through our station). It represents and extra 20 to 30 hours a work each week for me (above my regular schedule). Well, it is almost done and I will be free to spend that time on SLEEPER VFX, which I will need and then some! So I am very tired, but relieved that I can pour myself into finishing the Post of our film..... okay... okay... going back to work now! Gosh... your so pushy!

Actually, if done right, this could have been a very funny idea. But don't get any funny ideas...we want SLEEPER and will accept no imitations!! (and that includes 6 minutes of someone in bed sleeping...that won't do!!)

Sounds very interesting and very exhausting. I totally understand how your feeling. When I shot my HeroFest entry I was working my 40 hour a week job which includes 20 hours a week driving (to and from the office) then trying to plan, prepare, write, deal with flaky actors (which included re-casting 2 days before the shoot), shoot, edit, re-shoot, re-edit, struggle back from a dead computer, try to figure out how to make some passable effects (with absolutely no VFX talent whatsoever), etc, etc.... so I feel ya!

okay... okay... going back to work now! Gosh... your so pushy!
Don't consider it pushy...consider it...nagging

Haha! A little nagging goes a long way!

UPDATE: Mark and I have almost got the Sleeper cut down to the 6 minute goal. We should finish that today and then our sound engineer and our composer will have the master videos to create to.

Thanks Ted!

yeah, well... we will tweak till the cows come home... but it may not be completed soon, but it will definitely be presentable!:)

Wasn't it LUCAS who said, "Films are never finished, they are abandoned!" I don't think he was the originator of that saying but he has said it so many times over the years that it is hard not to say it and think of him! :Drogar-Evil(DBG):

I have always said to my wife, "I just want to finish something and say... that is awesome... I love it!" She always laughs and says, "You will never be completely happy with something that you have done... " :(

I guess that there is a lot of truth there... I don't know if that is a bad thing or a good thing! Oh well... I am not going to waste the brain cells trying to figure it out!

UPDATE: I have seen what Mark has up his sleeves and I must say it is very exciting. It is amazing what can be done when you are a compositiing guru. Perhaps one day I too will learn the skills....for now...I remain a Paduan Learner....
