I think/hope Jim will agree when I say that RED's goal is NOT to replace film.. It's to offer film makers and various shooters another choice in the tools they use to create their art.

If you see advantages to using RED over traditional film, that's great.. But one does not have to be better than the other for you to make that choice.. We need to respect everyone's position and choice of medium.. It makes for a happier world.

Any artifacts are compression and scale related. The original is pristine. Proof will be when we post the 4k.

Must be Kailua-Kona. Fast enough for porn, but not for RED footage. :)

That was a very interesting file.. I could see the dead pixels and stuff! Cool!! I also found it amazing that you pushed this thing WAY beyond specs and there was still a visable image there.. WOW!

I haven't been able to figure out why my next feature keeps getting delayed, because things usually work out OK for me....now I understand. Yes, Virginia there is a Santa Claus and there is such thing as devine intervention. :)

THE PERFECT HOUSE will be shot on RED. It's how it has to be.

Jim and others, may I humbly suggest that future videos get uploaded along with a BitTorrent link? Will make for extremely fast downloads for all and the more people downloading and seeding, the quicker it gets. Not to mention, your bandwidth won't go through the roof! It's what BitTorrent is designed for and everyone will thank you for it.
 
Just for fun, I pulled up some old telecine'd 7217 and ramped it in the same way.

The image was destroyed by 200%.
