Zombies + Girl + M2 Grabs

I've been helping my friend shoot her first ever production. She is a first time writer and director for this 3 minute zombie film and I am the DP and editer for it. We have about 11 people helping out... 4 Crew: Director, DP, Gaffer, and Make Up, 1 Actress and 6 zombies. These grabs are from the first night of shooting and we are going again tonight.

It's been a pretty fun shoot and I've been able to really play with my lights on this project. All color is done though the camera with no post tinkering at all.

I'm still getting use to working with the M2 and I think it shows in the grabs. Please tell me what you guys think, I would really love to hear some comments / critiques from you guys that I could use for tonight.

Thanks!

Hey Steven,

Yeah, I know I'm a little light on the zombie ones... Here are two more. This first scene is more about the suspense then the actually zombies. Those scenes we are shooting tonight.

This is out of focus on purpose. The scene starts off in the second grab and she is dragged out of focus and killed....

Hey pghchelf72,

If you think you were mad, I was uber mad at that. There is a bit of a story behind that. Those scenes were from the first night of filming correct. But that night plus the next few days were raining on us so we couldn't shoot the ending until the day before. I then spent the whole deadline day editing the the new footage with the stuff from the first night, plus add in the cc, foley, and the very minimal soundtrack we had roughly three hours to midnight.

Techniquely we got the video in at 11:53PM with 7 minutes to spare. But the director didn't message the guy until an hour later............. yeah.........

Live and learn...

So, instead we are looking into tweaking the film and polishing it up. We plan to get it scored and submit it to a few festivals and see how it plays out.

Well, here are some more grabs from the rest of the shoot.

Enjoy!

I know, I know, only one grab with actual zombies in them. With the rush to finish on time and such a lot was altered and the majority of the shots with zombies are to motion blurred to be displayed as stills. These grabs look a little soft here but when played out on a tv are clear. I'm still prefecting the whole grabing process.

Tell me what you guys think. :)

The lighting seems really good (maybe a little too crushed for my taste, but it fits the genre...)!
Post some footage soon, please!
