Zombiefest Official Entry Page

Congrats to all for just getting it done! I've learned so much through this process. what to do and what not to do next time.
This contest will only strengthen our community as filmmakers. I was lucky enough to collaborate with another friend who I convinced to buy a DVX. We jumped in and never looked back.
I'm just glad we got through it. I can't wait to see all the zombifications!

One entry per member--I'm already nervous about the number of films as I've promised to review them all. :) However, if your spouse is/becomes a member, he could enter his film.

Can I make a suggestion to the moderators?

After the entries are in and the votes made, perhaps we can create an area where each entered film gets its own thread. That way we can organize the responses, and the filmmakers have a specific place to post "making of" comments/pictures/links.

From what I've heard, there's gonna be a lot of stories from this contest - best to have them in an orderly manner. Just a thought.
 
Whoa! We're talking about 40 separate threads here. I think it'll be easier to keep track of a smaller number long threads and the interaction will be good. If individual filmmakers want to start their own threads *apart* from the general comments/critique thread I'm cool with that.

I am a newby to this uploading experience. I think I may have screwed up. I tried uploading a file from both Internet Explorer and Firefox. Firefox just sort of sat there so I jumped over to Internet Explorer. It appears that I was successful in getting the progress bar to show all green as though the file had uploaded but my cursor remains an hourglass. I then tried to start over, got the same progress bar/hour glass thing so I am not sure if you have:

1) No file from me
2) One file from me
3) Two files from me

Let me know, I am trying to submit it after about a million hours of work. (O.K., so I exaggerate a little.)

Just got the rough edit finished and it times out to exactly 5:00:00 from title card to last frame. If we add credits, do we need to keep it to 5:00:00 or under including the credits or is the limit for the short 5 minutes without credits?

If I have no way of submitting materials for the DVD, can I still enter my film for exhibition?

We require that all entries be uploaded to our server. So once the judging is done you can put the file up on your site, but not before that.
 
I don't understand how that's possible. If you have a DVX and a computer, you can output your file to tape.

From what he said in the Progress thread I think his NLE is not configured right. Like if you are editing in 24p the NLE isn't putting the interlaced frames back in on ouput to tape.

I'm a newbie and don't understand the various capture / output compressions but sometimes when I go to output to tape the feed stutters and blinks with a green screen. I just fix it by choosing a "easy setup" since I don't know what I'm doing.

I had a crash during editing though and can't export anything back to tape without horrendous skipping since now Premiere won't do the simplest of things without whoring processing speed *anger*. The only thing I salvaged was a mega high-quality fullscreen Quicktime version and a pretty low-quality Windows Media version.
 
Really lame question here, which might've been answered already - does the midnight deadline refer to the end of Thursday/beginning of Friday? Or does it have to be in BEFORE the 15th (Wednesday night)?
