Compared to cost and what you get, THIS is by far a better option than the Zacuto stick-rigs. You get TWO handgrips, two rods, and a real shoulder pad (a shoulder pad with surfaces to mount stuff to, by the way). You can shoot stable hand-held style footage with something like this, mount it as-is to a tripod, set it on the ground in an upright position, and mount a follow focus or monitor to the rods.

Not to mention it comes with a hoodloupe...

.

Just so everyone knows, we do offer two lines of DSLR rigs: our Gorilla line (rapid fire, quick draw and tactical) that are meant for quick run'n'gun type shooting. These can easily be take apart and stored very compactly as people have mentioned on this thread.

Our other line is our gunstock shooter line which is a full shoulder support system, which uses a baseplate, handgrip, shoulder pad, etc. If you want a two handgrip set-up we can do that was well. That is the great thing about the Zacuto system, it is so modular, you can do whatever you would like. Here is an example of a two grip set-up and counterweight: http://www.zacutoimages.com/p415241413/h2fac6deb#h2fac6deb. This model has a counterweight shown (our older counterweight, we now have the z-lites) but you can order it without it. We have something for everyone since our system is very modular.

Hope this clarifies some things!

Mandy, I don't need to tell you this, but your products are top notch. I'm a photographer, and like many others, I'm getting into the video side of things because of the developments of cameras in the DLSR market. I know Zacuto takes a lot of flack for their prices, but it really doesn't take much research to realize that your Gorilla line really has no competitors at any price point. Hopefully others will realize the true benefits of a system like yours, and I'm definitely interested in seeing what your company comes up with in the future, as you've definitely gained a customer with me. Thanks!

You're wrong Chris.

None of those will break down to slide into my chest pack to use while mountain biking or skiing. If you had the space to carry something that large, they're probably a good option. If not, Zacuto is really the only game in town, and well worth the price.

Hitek79: Four posts total, all in support of Zacuto. Nice.

And where do you carry your camera, by the way? Does that fit into your "chest pack?"

.

Everyone loves to justify their own purchases eh? Haha...this thread's about the Rapid Fire and out of 7 posts, all of them are about other rigs.

You people...geez...

Amen brother. My purchases were well calculated for my unique situation and am hoping to post test footage of everything I buy so people who might be in similar situations to myself have something to help gauge their purchases on.

Also, I've updated the inital post to write out the specifics of my situation, my thesis, and the ongoing experiment. Hopefully this will be a help to at least one person out here.

I use a LowePro Toploader 75 when I ski and mountain bike. Camera, 2 lenses, memory card, battery inside, Zacuto gear all slides perfectly into the webbing on the outside.

before you start calling someone out for defending something he happens to like you need to take a count for yourself then if you want to use that angle of attack. you have posted 5 times now.

its clear your agenda is *anti Zacuto* (tinker toys pic)...which is fine with me but to hound someone that is happy with their Zacuto is obnoxious. your good at that.

Or maybe you'd be better off not bashing things because you dislike their prices or functionality. They work for people, people buy them and use them in professional capacities all the time - what exactly is your agenda here?

You're not providing options, you're just being an ass.

You'd be better off with a bigger bag then.

My bag is the perfect size. Everything fits snugly and securely. Just because Zacuto gear works perfectly for some people doesn't mean you have to continue being another internet cry baby. Some people understand quality, some people don't.

Just got my Z-finder in today, but I have shoots all weekend so my camera won't have 24 hours to let the glue dry until Monday. Just by holding the Z-finder up to the LCD screen my initial thoughts are that the 3x magnification is awesome and I can easily spot focus without needing to use the focus assist, and I'm reminded how much I dislike looking through viewfinders as opposed to using both eyes looking at an LCD screen.

I should also mention that I ordered my Z-finder from B&H which was $25 cheaper than Zacuto and it came with a free Bescor 35w on-camera LED light, which is a lot more powerful than I thought it would be.
