There are always more specs that do not fit onto a single page, especially with a camera that does so much like the EVA1. But hey, I'm the Product Manager so I hope I know a few things about it. I will state it again: In 2K/HD up to 120fps, the EVA1 can capture the full field of view of the Super-35 sensor and do so in 10-bit 422. I hope this clarifies things for you.

With removable handle, viewfinder, etc., definitely lightweight and seems like a good choice for drone handheld and ronin stuff, particularly with angled corners on back to maximize clearance. Screening I attended did not have amazing projection (it was at a movie theater that tends to show indy films), so it was hard to tell how the detail was in the blacks. Having been there before, seems like a theater issue and not a camera issue. Spoke with the dp of one of the demo shorts (Superstition), who indicated they had done their color correct fairly quickly, with minimal tweaking. In viewing the three demo shorts, I was probably most impressed with the quality of the drone footage. Generally underwhelmed with the little LCD viewfinder that comes with it. Panny people said that the pin configurations on the VF point are available, so hopefully someone will create a 3rd party VF that doesn't use the SDI or HDMI port. I saw it more as a competitor to the FS5, and seems to have most of its advantages there. Not sure how it would stack up against FS7 - will probably need to wait for release version (late October?) to judge. My impression is that it is a far better value and has much more functionality than the FS5 - particularly adding much friendlier monitoring options, time code and clearscan. And of course it's far more economical than the FS7, particularly when you consider that timecode connector is included. If you already have a lot of PL glass this is probably not your first choice, otherwise definitely worth considering...

I think Sonys launch videos are very Japanese in general. Slowly paced and showing of a clean and highly resolved image rather than making anything aesthetic. They are more technical at least to me. It would have been nice to see Sony and Panasonic going towards what Canon do and hand the camera over to a movie shooting crew.

There are two more films produced that will be put on YouTube shortly, and they both do exactly as you ask.

Thanks, I saw that Radio 88 video and it was worthwhile to watch. Can't say I cared to much about the other two thou. So far, at least to me, the FS7 has a more robust image overall.

I have been toying with the idea but I have to say I have been shooting the FS7 with my Zeiss Otus Lenses as a main camera in tandem with a Red Helium with a Fuji 20-120 as a B-cam on a 1 hour doc both in LOG. Guess which camera the PP people and the EP liked overall better?

I actually see less and less reason to switch for now. More and more people are getting savy with LOG workflow so in a weird way the FS7 is getting better every day.

Love the FS7 and shot a ton with it for the last two years. I rate the camera at 1000 ISO and shoot CineEI.
EVA1 seems to be an interesting little camera. For me pros and cons are:

PROS
- lighter than FS7. I got used to the weight of my FS7 (including shape baseplate) but would prefer something more lightweight
- cleaner noise with dual ISO (800/2500). Really not a big fan of the FS7 noise.
- adjustable white balance. would be nice to be more precise than the three available options in CineEI
- TC in/out
- SD cards are cheap and non proprietary
- "native" EF: hopefully faster exposure change more like C300. Metabones is pretty slow.

CONS
- 60p only 4:2:0
- maybe image quality and color science? waiting for some more test footage to assess

Something both cameras are missing that would be great:

- Power out on camera to power follow focus or wireless hdmi
- False Color

Don't know if this has been discussed before, but with Native EF lenses what kind of Auto Focus options does the camera offer. Anything to compare with Canon?

The answer to the original question, based on the 3 demos so far, is no. I would not buy an EVA1. It's a nice enough camera. But by the looks of it the EVA1 doesn't really bring much new to the table and it doesn't look spectacular or anything. So far it doesn't seem to look any better than what we already have, like the FS7, and Canons in the same price range.

Maybe my opinion will change once the camera gets to the hands of actual users.
