FS7: Would You Buy A Panasonic AU-EVA1?

If I based my opinion purely on the image out of the EVA, I would say the best IQ I've seen from the camera would make the answer a yes....as I stated before, and not to kick a dead horse, the mount I'm not interested in....perhaps in the EVA2 Panasonic will reconsider this point voiced by many...the image achievable with the camera is lovely, as I suspected it would be.

Vimeo has changed their linking system. Embedding a video, however, still works fine on this site.

The question is, why? Why do this nonsense? When I click a link, I expect to be taken to the linked page. I don't want to be taken to ad for something I already pay for. In fact, it makes me want to cancel my subscription. Vimeo has jumped the shark...

Except it has nothing to do with Vimeo, they did not change anything. It's about DVXUSER website. Vimeo links work perfectly fine everywhere else.

i don't believe you can evaluate a camera based on any films you can watch on the internet. You really need to put the camera through the paces then you will be able to see how it performs compared to what you have used before in the same situations. And don't expect quantum leaps, all the large sensor cams of the last 3-4 years are very good the differences are in nuances. If you are not happy with the results you are getting then most likely a new camera will not fix it either.

sure - but when I see what beautiful image my GH5 gets out of box this first presentation video was a little dispointing

Well, yes and no. :)

You shouldn't buy a camera based only on a clip you saw online. Because owning a camera is also about the usability etc. But you can judge the image close enough from a youtube or vimeo clip. Compression issues and other things can be discounted if you are a professional and understand about image. There is image quality and then there is just the image. Online viewing can only really mess with the image quality. Not the image itself. You can see an Alexa clip online and it may be full of compression artifacts and noise because of youtube. But it won't look like cheap video. Look at all the compliments the F35 posted stuff gets on the F35 forum. People post clips from several cameras everywhere on the forums. Most times they go without comment or not many compliments. But the F35 stuff always gets praise. Everybody is watching that on youtube or vimeo too.

If I like everything I see in a demo and my problem is only compression and other things that could be related to online viewing, then I will bother checking the camera out in person. If compression and noise is the last of the problems, because the image looks like video, skins are bad, rolling shutter is bad or any other issue not affected by online viewing, then it's a pass for me.

Bullshit. So much depends on proper mastering of the video. Even things like rendering of motion, texture and some barely tangible things which I would describe as camera's character get greatly affected by post but also choices made on set. No, you can't see through it, especially if you have never shot with the particular camera. I've seen awful videoish crap and breathtaking works coming from every camera.
