would it bankrupt panasonic...?

would it bankrupt panasonic to hire a small company or individual (or internally) to create a logical us english software and info download site?

i hate to complain (i only do so because i'm more than willing to offer a solution) but the process of finding and downloading simple current panasonic software is completely convoluted and doesnt fit any current paradigm of western web information presentation...

This problem has been mentioned for a quite a while on these here boards.

The download site is maddening. And why is a password needed to access it?

www.panasonic.com/p2

Looks pretty easy to me. What they need are MAC VERSIONS of their software...like the P2 formatter. They always make this software PC only, even though easily 70% of their users also use Macs.

Does seem like a convoluted way to get drivers...

Just thought I'd grab the new Intra-Codec... so many steps.. passwords etc..

Cheers

One would assume that Panasonic could be "Windows centric" not knowing or maybe not really understanding how many users are actually on the Mac platforms.
Windows hardware and software is easy and cheap to develop compared to Mac that's probably why. (more profit at the end of the day).

Shane:

I have P2 Formatter running here on my MBP, have for a long time. Not sure where/which site I got it from exactly but it definitely does exist for Mac. It came out a long time ago, I think right around when the 16GB cards were introduced.

I have it too, I think it came bundled with the P2 CMS perhaps? I'm not sure exactly but I just stumbled across it on my MBP one day and was a bit surprised to find it because I didn't know it existed and certainly didn't download and install it separately! I would suggest downloading all the drivers and the P2 CMS and install them and I'd be surprised if you don't find a P2 formatter has snuck onto your mac as well.

I suppose that may be an excuse for a small compnay like mine deailng to a small audience, But for a company dealing products to the "world", I'd say no.
Why not have Country of origin flag at the head page and get an english orientated guy re-set the info.

Just my thoughts.
