Would EOS adapter w/ Glass Element Degrade Sharpness in video mode?

Hi all,

So I have several Minolta and Canon FD lenses, and I was thinking about buying their appropriate adapters, which have glasss elements, to use on my 7D. I know introducing a glass element in the adapter reduces lens sharpness, but I'm wondering whether it would be noticible in video mode?

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Mike

It depends on the quality of the glass element, obviously, but -- for this particular usage, I bet you'd get away with it for video. Certainly the video mode would be far more forgiving of any such slight degradation than the stills mode would be.

Sometimes when shooting wide open, the light will bounce around and create a soft focus look that might not be desirable. It really depends on the lens you're adapting. Many people seem to have success with Minolta lenses but Canon FD seems to degrade a bit more from the samples I've seen. I'd love to be proven wrong though as FD and Minolta glass is always the cheapest on Ebay.
