World Exclusive First HVX200 Footage..PART 2

Man, I gotta have this camera.
I know a place where I can donate blood for $50. I figure if I donate blood 130 times in the next week, then I'll have enough money. If I hit the local sperm bank and sell my Billy Beer collection, I'll add a 4g P2 card. Who's coming with me? No pun intended.

Duude... I'm soooo there!!! :)

lol

Well crud, I can't donate blood and I had a Vascetomy 12 years ago.
Guess I'll just have to ask the wife for some money.

Jarred, Barry, can you give us an estimate on how long it took to dump the footage from the HVX? Not sure what size card you guys had to test with or how you transferred it as well; firewire out from the camera to laptop or external drive. I'm getting an HVX for narrative filmmaking and trying to determine if I need (2) 4gb cards or if (1) will suffice. Thanks!

Not to sound creepy or anything, but you know, research companies seriously pay $5000 for an egg.

My girlfriend left otherwise.... hmmm...

Barry,

I believe you mentioned that you had your 24" Dell with you. Have you had a chance to hook up the HVX to it and in your opinion, is it suitable for a field monitor? Secondly, hows does the monitor handle the 720P footage? Is the image distorted in any way from the uprezzing? Thanks in advance!

Looks good. Any possibility to see something shot at 720p in the native codec? A file that will play in FCP 5?

What kind of gamma setting is being used for these shots?

Guys I can see it now. A child born from your donating sperm, who turns into the swamp monster, comes back to find its biological papi and rip you to pieces for not sticking around. This story will be shot on the HVX and shown at 1080/24P and will win two Oscars for best cinematography and best original screenplay. I'll see ya at the Oscars!

lol!!

I was just thinking...
Panasonic has just set the bar (incredibly high with the look of that 1080P). From here on out, the little guy can play ball with the big boys. I believe in Hearts of Darkness, Francis Ford Coppola said that the next big thing in film will be some guy out there with a camcorder... or something to that effect. Who knows?

Was that before Blair Witch came out?

I had a feeling somebody was gonna say that!
Yeah, Hearts of Darkness was '91 and Blair Witch was '99. So 8 years for his prophecy to come true...not bad. Anyway, back to the thread...

Okay... THAT had to be a joke.
Hearts of Darkness was shot during the making of Apocolypse Now, well before 1991.

The footage was from 1979, it may have been released in 91 (which is why IMDB has it listed that way).
Anyway...moot point.

The point is, I feel old.
That's the real issue here.

:)

Jarred, Barry, thanks a lot for all of it! The videos are great. THIS CAMERA Rocks, I am Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo SOLD!! Great Job, Panny!
