World Exclusive First HVX200 Footage..PART 2

Okay... THAT had to be a joke.
Hearts of Darkness was shot during the making of Apocolypse Now, well before 1991.

I could be terribly wrong, but I swear towards the end of the documentary, there was footage of him at his home/vineyard (looking much older) reflecting back on the making of the film. It's been a while since I've seen it. Perhaps I was thinking of something else.

No Heart of Darkness was released in 1991. Yes it was shot at the time of Apocalypse Now, but it was not edited or completed. And their is footage in them from around then.

Yea I can't wair to get my hands on this camera.

Hey, anybody see the footage from the music video at DVExpo? "Tosh" mentioned it would be shown at the expo and I haven't heard anybody say anyhting about it.

Oh yeah!
I completely forgot about that.
I wonder what happened to it.

Interestingly, they haven't updated defperception.com with any new info yet.

must've sucked! ;)

Just kidding of course... Michael actually does some pretty good work (including another video for John Brannen which looked fantastic). Perhaps they're just not quite ready to show it yet, or the label may be witholding presentation permission or something.

You may be right on that. I don't exactly remember the context of the quote.
Either way, it was a tangent...i didn't mean to turn that into a big thing.
It was just a little thing I thought was kinda funny, mainly because it made me feel old.
:)

Im pretty impressed, however not that convinced with the difference bewteen the 720p and the 1080p file. Barry is definatley right, it has more resolution but not sure how significant yet......
35mm film-out: will it be significant?

I was at CineAlta in Seattle, WA the other day and they were demoing some footage with the varicam in 720p and it looked absolutely beautiful. Even if there is a small improvement to 1080p it'll print much nicer. Also, I would rather have a digtal 1080p natively recording the analog noise rather than try and do a 4k blowup from a 720p digital source.

Even if the lens could only resolve 400 lines of resolution I would still rather be capturing that at 1080 just because it would look less digital.

If people are looking for a potentially faster download source.

I believe in Hearts of Darkness, Francis Ford Coppola said that the next big thing in film will be some guy out there with a camcorder... or something to that effect. Who knows?

Tarantino said the same thing on the BTS of Pulp Fiction while they were rigging the car that Butch uses to hit Marsellus.

Back on topic, the footage looks amazing; much better than I expected! I wish I didn't look though, cause it's going to make the wait even more excruciating knowing that it's only a few weeks away and it looks this delicious!

I always find it funny when people say "that DOF looks great".... lol..

well.. if your background is the.... horizon... and your like 10cm from someones face.. it better be out of focus...

but anywho... the 1080p stuff is certainly impressive indeed, but I think the 720p are superior in their clarity and sharpness, of course you could argue that the 1080p footage is softer and therefore more "film like" but I shouldn't open that can of worms..

too late

another footage

another footage

Firstly thanks a lot Jarred and Barry and all the guys involved for the footage
They are truly beautiful that my jaws dropped as everyone else !

I've found an another footage on a japanese site which claims it came from the pre-prodution model and down-converted to 480 within HVX...

It's in WMV format and I can not play it back on my beloved G5.
Can anyone try on PCs and possibly cross-convert to something playable on a Mac, please?

Here's direct link: http://www.geocities.jp/sumi653/AG-HVX200Test.wmv

Doesn't seem to work on this Windows box here either saru. Strange.

Congrats! Quote of the day!

DOF is not the same than shallow DOF or deep DOF, as all we know and there is who confuses this concept. And regarding shallow DOF, also there is real shallow DOF and not real DOF or fake shallow, that is, non-focus area plus (or versus, if you wish!) focus subject.

<PS>

For an online available example or real shallow DOF, see macgregor's Secret Garden.

That's why there are a lot of macgregor's comparisions concerning FX-1 footage properties. I'd say it's more a Jonathan Houser's properties or, better to say, property. And of course, color correction work and macgregor's eye - without forget HD(V) tech asset (if not why we'd be here?).

Is there any mirror for the new file? (The huge native uncompressed one?)
It seems the server has reached its bandwith limits.
