Hey, figured I'd save space and cram two problems into one thread.
My first is that I purchased an addonics PCMCIA to PCI-E adapter. The thing works great, every once in awhile. I don't know why but sometimes it just doesnt detect anything, sometimes it detects the adapter but not the P2 cards and sometimes it works just great. The computer is an older Dell (2006) but it should still work fine. I called addonics and there only solution was that I send it back for another one, which would be all well and good were I not leaving in a week to go film my documentary.
Which leads me to my second question about live recording to FCP. Since the PCMCIA card is fairly unreliable, I thought maybe I would try my hand at recording live on FCP. Once I get it all set up, it only records in about two second increments before notifying me that it's "Reached the end of the tape". Is there a way to tell it not to look for tape ends or something to override this? Any help is much appreciated as I'm 7 days away from heading to Scotland and still rather unsure as to how I'm gonna get a practical workflow going considering all of my plans keep falling through.
