I have a wireless mic and reciever I've been trying to figure how it works? Do you have to change somthing in your settings? I can hear the wireless mic but it doesn't record the sound.... Any thoughts?

I checked everything, the reciever for the wireless mic only plugs into the headphone jack. I don't see how you can import audio through that. is there somthing I'm missing?

The headphone jack is an output.

If you have a mini jack on your receiver, you probably need an XLR adapter.

Ok first What is the brand and the model or the wireless? Could help a little
Then, from what you say it looks like my Senizer wireless lavalier, The mini jack is not like a headphone jack, it is wired like a XLR, and should actually come with a male mini jack to single female XLR cable. On the transmitter side is it a lavalier, a boom or a hand held?

Example of an adapter I have the same issue

what you need is an 1/8" mini female to male XLR adapter.

my sennheisers came with them

check out this page: http://www.infinitecables.com/av_xlr-3.5mm.html

I would think your receiver would have a jack to plug this cable into, but if you have a fixed cable on your receiver with the mini jack, then just google for the adapter. If the latter is the case, you can by a 3.5mm (1/8") barrel connector and use one of the cables on the referenced website.

Alright so problem solved the hard way 1/8 male reicever in to femal coupler out to 1/8 male xlr adapter in to camera I do not recommend this. I wish I would have bought a xlr wireless reciever

1/8 male reicever in to femal coupler out to 1/8 male xlr adapter in to camera

sounds like that's gonna put a lot of stress on your camera's XLR jack (if you're talking about the large 2 inch barrel xlr adapter), especially if you bump it or tug on the attached cable while it's plugged in. If I were you, I'd build a balanced cable (female 1/8" direct to xlr male - or male 1/8" direct to xlr)...still not sure if you have a cable coming out of your receiver or if you have a female 1/8" jack on it for audio out. Either way, good luck ! :)

im not sure what you guys are talking about here. an 1/8" mini female to xlr male adapter is a very simple adapter and will work fine. putting no more weight/stress on the jack than a normal xlr cable...

I was thinking he had something like this: http://www.fullcompass.com/product/235523.html

which, if the length was not too long is probably fine. I've seen adapters like this that were almost 3 inches in length sticking out of the camera when plugged in which could easily get knocked about.

There are cables on many sites that have much shorter XLR ends and then terminate with 12 or 18 inches of cable to either a female or male 1/8" mini plug.

i guess there probably are manufacturers who make honkin-clumsy adapters. so here is a better idea. plug a normal xlr mic cable into the camera then plug your adapter into the other end of the cable. no matter how bulky the adapter is, that should solve the prob.
