Used the Canon T2i/550D with Nikon lens 24mm,50mm,105mm.

Had a dolly and it was hard to push the dolly and pull focus but turned out good.

Was just bored one morning and saw it was foggy, So i did alittle video.

Well, one thing that jumps out is the word "fogy." I think "foggy" is the word you're seeking.

About the video...

- Way too much shallow DOF. With almost every shot being macro and/or shallow DOF, it just gets boring (monotonous). I'd like to know where I am while I'm looking at the smaller details. Give me some wide shots with deep focus. Establish the scene. And I never really got a sense of the fog.
- Until the last shot, everything is either a dolly left-to-right or a dolly push. Again, this becomes monotonous. Shake it up a bit. Try a few shots without the dolly... maybe even try some good, ole'-fashioned pans and tilts.
- The push in on the flower at 1:07 took way too long, and was really bouncy after the dolly movement stopped.
- You lost me when you moved indoors. That was terribly out of place against the rest of the piece. Perhaps if you had explored the room a bit more it would have felt more justified, but it jumps too drastically and there was no transition to move the viewer inside with the camera.
- The pull at the end, starting from the flower, was way too shaky before and during the dolly out.
- Overall, the colors were kind of dull. A little strategic grading could really make the images pop.

I have to agree with C2V about tightening it up a little... not every shot needs to have a dolly move or rack focus... let the plants blow in the wind create action and your composition create interest.

I will say that you had some interesting things in your shots and to keep shooting little shorts, it's a great way to hone your skills.

Maybe it's because I'm a northerner, but when i see a video titled "Winter", I don't usually expect to see palm trees and a pool :)

Yeah out in Arizona...West Coast, We really never get any fog so that is rare. This was my first time doing a video like this and i got alittle carried away with the dolly but thanks for the feedback.

Thanbs, Also just came across the color grading comment from C2V, I actually desaturated the picture alittle because of keeping a arizona..."foggy" winter day would not have the colors nice and rich. I kept the highlights a bit lower, did a shift of blue and desaturated alittle from some of the wider shots.

Terry we do have a coast. Just 6 hours away to a place called cali

Arizona is awesome. I was just there a couple months ago. Beautiful state seriously.

Thanks for sharing the video by the way.

The thing that bugged me was when you hold something out of focus for so long before you do a rack focus in. (on the flower) Lots of people do that in their vids but I never dug it. It kind of hurts my eyes. A rack focus should only last so long before you notice it too much and you're sitting there waiting. Other than that it's nice that you shot that vid.
