Wind against HVX

okay so now we know that the hvx200 doesn't provide true 4.2.2 sampling in hd mode. what about in sd mode dv50? is that true 4.2.2?

If you read the thread you'd know that it is true 4:2:2 in every mode :-) (except DV and DVCPRO25 of cause)

The color subsampling relates to the internal luminance resolution of the codec.

Barry I don't want to make scandals or something, I wanted to say that if the specs are not true (with evr'y camera, from Canon to Sony or Panasonic) expert people can check the camera electronics. I'm not expert.
In this days, you know, the web allows to know and read things that in the past you can't know.
Because the world is strange, Panasonic is a company, a company as Canon or others, in a company could happen that something doesn't go as civil sense that I love as you.
I want you tell an old story, perhaps don't you know, because it happened in Italy. Televisions and papers reports this story for much time.
There was a company called "Parmalat", they make milk, not cameras, this was a respectabily company for years ,it has hidden a secret about its finacial situation and has fraud millions of thrifty person!
Probably reading posts here, or in others sites, you can have some thoughts about the system, marketing stuff, you know? Secrets etc...
Much people believe that behind big companies there's something of not ethically, have you hear story about Massonery, or secret alliance? Conceptually works!
For example I've read forums in Italy, of people that has sell panasonic dvx100 because interlaciated mode don't work well, or another :a company has selled varius Varicam to people, Varicam give them a millions of problems about quality (I dunno why) but this company has to change all cameras with other "brand company".
In Italy we have strong laws to prevent frauds, I dunno in you country how it works, because we have different cultures.

I dunno well what means "trolling", I'm italian guy, but hope if anyone has perplexity he can to speak about perplexity. A troll is a character of fables so it's something of archetypical, what do you mean? Evr'ybody it's a troll, a ghoul, a mythological creature, because subconscious works like that.
I hope we can speak more as human people a not machine, robots, we are alive and we want the truth.
For example I'm student, I dunno what is your work, I'm a guy as others here that want make movies, I love cinema!
If you work for Panasonic for me it's not a problem, but it's a bit example of that truth and civil sense to tell this.
I only know about you that you're expert more than me, so your culture is good thing to diffuse.

I really like Panasonic footage you posted, but also I've noticed that in the area "others cameras" Canon Xl h1 has few footage, but I dunno why.

I hope I've been more clear for you and others, thanks for your attention Barry Green.

Greetings

Danilo

Sorry, no offense intended.
But seeing as people still post asking about the 'clunk' coming from their DVX, you can't be too careful.

Here in 'merica, Freedom of Fruad is a viable economic imperitive...written in to the constitution Dammit. When you lie, cheat and steal, you make money (if you are worth your salt). When you make money you spend money and it all trickles down. Helps the unfortunates.
Plus with fraud, you keep people on there toes and that helps with the cerebral evolution of a nation's species.
Not that evolution is real, God created man, let's get that straight. He created man first and then He created evolution
...otherwise there would be no DVX > HVX.
That's it. End of story
dammit

grazie :) Benton. Non sei l'unico a conoscere un pò d'italiano! :)
Could be that Italian language is popular in America as english language in Italy? You're the third people that replied me in italian...
many thanks I feel alone here...

Wow, broke 2 out of the only 3 forum rules in one post. Nice

wabbit, human kindness is better than robotic netiquette, think about it :)
Denounce bad action of some people that only want make money (freedom of fraud! It's terrible!) damaging other people, is the first rule of serious people, this oughta be a "forum rule"! Censor amazing thoughts of Benton or me is not democratically good! :)
Benton SEI UN GRANDE! You're GREAT!!!:)

Aw, we love you, Danilo!

Hey everybody, group hug on Danilo.

I am going to give Danilo the benefit of the doubt here. I understand what he is saying and I feel the big problem here is that quite a number of us are focusing strictly on numbers as we have not had the opportunity to see a great deal of material yet. The numbers everyone are throwing around can be confusing and ultimately make frustrated content creators and decision makers. Worse we become even more skeptical of not only the core knowledgebase of what we are reading but of the whole move to HD.

Danilo wants to know some basic questions, as do most of us.

1. Is the camera really an HD camera or is HD achieved by some form of electronic manipulation that does in fact reduce imaging quality? (yes or no)

2. Does one have to really have to spend $50,000 or more US dollars to achieve high quality HD? (yes or no)

3. Will stations like INHD or Discovery HD accept material shot with the HVX200 if it is properly transferred and meets their individual broadcast standards and delivered on the master format the require ( yes or no)

I understand the need for "secrets" with regards to competition in the marketplace, however I do feel there is a bit of smoke and mirrors going on. Not only with the HVX but also with all of these low cost HD cameras.

My really big question is that at the price point the HVX comes in at would one be better off looking at a high quality 2/3" SD camera that shoots 4:2:2 and is 16x9 native like a AJ-SPC700 and is DVCPRO 50?

I have HD in my home - all 10 stations of it. I love it but it will be sometime to the rest of the world catches up and everything is HD.

Danilo I feel that some of the other forum participants may have been a bit hard on you considering the language barrier. As I said I am willing to give you the benefit of the doubt and say your post was an honest one. Barry just wants to make sure we keep our discussions focused and not draw any conclusions that are not warranted. That said I do agree with your overall desire to get honest straightforward information about any of the products we talk about here and wish companies could just come to the table with what they have and present them to potential customers in and open an honest fashion.

Now my Danilo jab – To bad for Scuderia Ferrari this past year in the F1 Championship. Go Renault! :)
